Heyy,

Hoping someone can help suggest a gaming laptop.

I am looking for a gaming laptop, I want it to be able to run most games at least (Currently on Balders Gate 3) but It doesn't need to be like everything on top graphics happy with it just running them so as not to break the bank.

Travel a lot and needs to be compact is the important thing would like one 14/15 inches? Is that something that can be configured on here?

Thanks so much for all the help

All depends on your budget?

A laptop is substantially more expensive than a desktop for lesser performance. So a laptop 4080 for instance is more like a desktop 4060ti or so.

Also, you can't upgrade anything in a laptop other than RAM and SSD's, so the idea is to shoot for the highest GPU you can afford as that will be the first bottleneck (no matter which GPU you choose), so you want as much power as you can possible squeeze in for the budget to make it last longer.

I saw the other comment suggesting a Fusion laptop, I understand they are not gaming laptops but if I customised it with a better Ram (16) and a graphics card upgrade (NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3050 - 6.0GB GDDR6 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1)

Would that not be exactly what I'm looking for?

Hello,

Checked online and everywhere i look its saying this is a decent combo and will run anything granted not to the recommended but past minimum.

Basically looking for something light I can game on when travelling (14" would be perfect, could do up to 15.3") for work but don't want to be overly limited to what i play.

How does the below look? Any recommendations? This is coming in at £1,320.00 inc. VAT

Chassis & Display
Fusion Studio Series: 14" Matte WQXGA 90Hz sRGB 95% LED Widescreen (2880x1800)

Hey,

Why've you moved it back here I think it was more suitable in check my spec?

Not really got a huge idea on a budget was wondering if the above was good for what I wanted, a light compact gaming laptop that runs games but not necessarily to recommended. but past minimum

Without a budget it's not possible to advise.

With a laptop you configure the most powerful gpu you can afford so you're only limited by your budget, without that it's like saying how long is a piece of string

Just bear in mind laptop GPU's are about 2 - 3 tiers under a desktop GPU.

So a laptop 4060 equates to around a GTX1650 desktop GPU. It would struggle at 1080p out of the box even when new, within a year or two it will be time to buy a new laptop.

That's obvious, in any case, a 4060 is preferable to a 3050 but, as you said, everything is within the OP's budget. :)

Personally, the Recoil is the only valuable 2023 laptop at the moment.

As above, that's not a gaming laptop, the 3050 won't manage 1080p without heavily reducing settings, it's only just better than on board graphics.

Ah okay thank you, so confusing because it has the memory and processer that can handle it 🤣 whys it got to be so complicated.

I’ll have to buy a brand like razer or something that do the 14inch gaming laptops.

Thanks for your help

Gaming is more about the GPU than CPU or RAM

Sure, you will need a higher budget for brands like ASUS, MSI, RAZER. You won't find the same price/performance ratio as here.

I'm a seafarer, so I know what it's like to work abroad and travel frequently: 1-2 inches makes no difference in terms of logistics. :)
