Can't get Thunderbolt 4 port to work on Laptop

Hi,

I have a laptop only a few months old as per specs below. I bought a Thunderbolt 4 docking station - but when I plug it into the Thunderbolt port on the laptop it doesn't recognize it. I'm using Windows 11. I tried installing all kinds of drivers etc. - but it makes no difference.

When I run the Thunderbolt Control Center software - it sees a port but doesnt think anything is plugged into it.

Any ideas on how to get this to work would be very much appreciated.

thanks - reddal

Just additionally, make sure you're plugging it into the thunderbolt port and not a USB C port.

Thunderbolt ports are marked with a thunderbolt sign as below, I know on some chassis, the thunderbolt port is at the rear of the chassis

USB C looks the same but won't work.

OK - I did the upgrade to Windows 11 22H2 - took hours - but didn't change anything - the dock still doesn't recognize a connection - and the laptops thunderbolt connection still doesn't think anything is connected.

Anything else I can try?

That's not to get it working, that's just to get software up to date so we can begin troubleshooting.

Can you upload a screenshot of your device manager?

Also, are you using the thunderbolt cable that came with the dock and not another one? USB C is not the same as thunderbolt.

And also, you have the power cable plugged into the dock and into the wall?

Yes - using the cable that came with the dock

Yes - it has power - when you switch it on a green led comes on. This is supposed to turn blue when connected to Thunderbolt 4 properly.

When I look at the Thunderbolt control center software all I see is:

Though when I select 'About' I do see this:
