Apologies if this is a silly question.

thanks

I would say in around 90% of the computers we manufacture (anything other than a really entry level PC) there is good potential for future upgrades. The best way to check is look at the specification you have chosen, and what free motherboard features are left:

1. How many RAM slots are left.
2. How many PCI-E/PCI ports are free.
3. How many SATA ports are free.

This way you can determine how far you can upgrade without having to swap out the components you use.

If you want, post your spec here and we will take a look through and let you know what free slots/ports there will be.

This is your motherboard:

2_big.jpg

So...based on your specification above:

1. All your RAM slots will be full, so if you ever wanted to go above 8GB, you would need to replace the modules.
2. You can add a 2nd graphics card for Crossfire.
3. You can add a further 6 SATA devices (HDD, ODD).
4. You have 2 free PCI ports and 2 free PCI-E ports.

All in all, plenty of upgrade potential :D

Thanks PCS and Meds the motherboard looks a bit daunting to me!!
When you say replace the module is this just part of the motherboard or all of it.
Also please, which motherboard would you suggest I go for where there is still capacity to increase from 8GB rather than having to change the module.
Thanks
Dave

You will see on the Motherboard there is 4 slots parallel to each other, two black and two blue - this is where the RAM plugs into.

You have ordered 8GB RAM in the form of 4 x 2GB modules, therefore all 4 slots will be taken. If you were to ever need more than 8GB RAM in the future, you would have to replace all four modules with say 4 x 4GB which will give you 16GB. But at the moment, I doubt you will utilize anywhere near 8GB RAM so you'll have nothing to worry about for a long time.
