Card Reader slow to recognise

Hi all,

I purchased a PC from PC Specialist about 2months ago and have noticed that the card reader seems to be rather slow. If I insert a memory card from the camera it would take approx 30-60 seconds to auto-play.

Last week I noticed that in the 'my computer' it didn't recognise any of the card reader slots, i inserted the memory card and it didn't do anything, I had to restart the pc and then it recognised the memory card.

Any suggestions what the issue is?

At present with how slow it is or not recognising the card its been a waste of money, might aw well plug a cable into the camera and USB port.

Only thing I can suggest is to consider removing and replacing the cables inside the PC. It's a freebie (As far as I'm aware) from PCS so you're not losing out as such if it doesn't work.

Failing that, you can probably RMA it if it is broken :)

Oh really? I thought it was just included as standard in the builds... apologies. But yes, you could try to reinstall the drivers too :)

EDIT: Just checked and it appears to be approx. £3 :)

Has anyone else has this issue with the internal card reader? As my main use is using the pc for photo and video editing this is quite annoying regardless of the price.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers and/or reseating the cables?

Failing that I'd get in touch with PCS. Unless its always been that slow, in which case, it might just be slow.

PCS seem to think it's the sd card be removed causing the issue. Im assuming in reference to first selecting the drive and choosing stop and then safely remove. Previously I have also had card readers set up for quick removal. The dvd-rom doesnt seem to auto run either.
