Sorry but Intel really have the torch at this point.

Is there a reason you choose to go with AMD ?

what ress will you be using?

what do you use the pc for ?

what is your budget like ?

How long till you upgrade / replace?

Well we all know that they're the superior chip maker :p hehe. Seriously though, just go with whatever floats your boat.

Assuming you stick with AMD then consider the 1GB HD 5870 unless you plan to make use of multiple monitors (I know that makes me the world's biggest hypocrite but I knew there would be little to no performance gain and went for it anyway. ;))

Please......what? lol

The 2600k is "teh toddler of the next generation". as said by Sleinous in a recent post. Also I like the nostalgia aspect of it being an end of era chip. Underdog brownie points, surely? An ALL AMD/ATI system too! BTW I am not a fanboy. My current rig is a pentium II. Yes you read that correctly.

what ress will you be using? Mostly 1280 x 1024 - I much prefer the 4:3 ratio even if it means black bars either side .If anyone knows where to get a 4:3 one please let me know. 1600x1200 would be very nice.

what do you use the pc for ? University stuff: Photoshop, InDesign, Maya, Final Cut Pro. Gaming will surely happen at some point

what is your budget like ?
1500 tops
How long till you upgrade / replace?
IDK
Whats the total price for this? Just under 1500 inclusive of VAT

I plan on a second screen in the future.

So the rig looks good to go then? XD

That was a response to my fanboyism. :p

You can drive two monitors without the more expensive card - it's really meant for up to six monitors.
