Nvidia drivers @419.35

I was shocked to hear beeps when I was playing fortnite.
The laptop shutdown after hearing 21-22+ beeps. As soon as the beeping starts, the fans go from silent to 100% it seems.
I was thinking it may be overheating.

Next I tried following the temperatures of the laptop while playing
CPU was around 70-74 degrees.
GPU was around 76 MAX (ussually bit lower)

I recreated the problem within 5 minutes of starting fortnite.
Then i spent the entire day @idle.. doing office work. Nothing happend, everything okay.
So it seems to only happen when stressing the system somewhat.

Also I think I noticed one thing the a led was blinking when the beeping happend and I think it was an orange light?
(there are 2 leds on my laptop on the right side) The icon besides it suggest it is a power light

This is what shows up in my log:

http://prntscr.com/n7slv7
http://prntscr.com/n7slqr
http://prntscr.com/n7tv4n
http://prntscr.com/n7tvk6

Then I started playing apex legends. For 20 minutes doesn't seem to crash.
Then I decided to run Ungine Heaven 4.0 and it crashed within 3 minutes..
But not in the same way with the beeps. It just shut of my laptop INSTANTLY, without any beeps or anything.
Temp was measured around 73 degrees. Nothing in windows logs this time..

Also I couldn't turn my laptop on anymore! I kept pressing the power button but it didnt respond.
I saw the light of the power supply off (normally it is green I think). So I disconnected the power supply and reconnected it, and light was green again.
And laptop booted up again.

From your 'shocked' statement I assume this has just started happening? In that case, what did you do just prior to this happening? Was there a Windows update, a driver update, new hardware, new software, or any other changes?

It doesn't look like a temperature issue, though you really want to see the temps just before it beeps and/or shuts off.

A better way of sending us the event logs is to save the logs rather than post screenshots. The best way to do that is as follows....

1. In the Event Viewer create a custom view containing all the Critical and Error log entries (if you don't already have one). Click on Custom Views in the tree menu on the left and in the action menu on the right select Create Custom View... In there check the Critical and Error checkboxes, click the By Log radio button and in the pull-down menu to the right expand the Windows Logs section and check the Application and System checkboxes. Leave everything else at their default (everything) settings then click Ok.

2. Click on your custom view in the tree menu on the left and in the action menu on the right select Save All Events In Custom View As... and choose a location and filename for the .evtx file that will be created. Assuming your PC uses English you can ignore the display language dialog that pops up.

3. Upload the .evtx file created to somewhere public on the cloud (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) and paste a link to it here.

Any of us can then import your custom view into our own event viewers and look to see if anything is amiss.

Yes it defintely is not a temperature issue. I went to a friends house and went on to do furmark test and ungine heaven.then fortnite as it would crash at my place.
But instead nothing crashed!! everything worked fine. maximum temp of 78 degrees in furmark.

So I came home and suddenly magically everything worked again! could play fortnite for hours.
Then the next day I woke up and I got the msg 1 hour of having the computer in chrome etc.. "battery low" shutting down.

And the led lamp on my power supply went dark again.. weird. So I replugged it and booted laptop and everything seemed okay.
Which is weird because windows said my battery was at 90% capacity... so even if somehow my power supply disconnected shouldnt it go on my battery

My power supply seems to be a
Delta Electronics ADP-230 EB T
19.5V. 11.8 A

I looked around the internet but finding one with the same connector is hard. Most are not 4 pin female like I have.
And a friend of mine said even if the same pin it might still not work cuz of technical ****.

If I were to decide to get a replacement, where at pcspecialist can I order one because I can't find the option on the website for just power supplies.

I just tested the laptop without battery here and it is losing power and laptop suddenly is off, no shutting down or anything. Weird.

At my friends house it didn't seem to have that behaviour.

Then the problem is not with the laptop, it's something to do with your house. The most obvious is some sort of electrical issue such that the charger can't draw all the current it requires (or the mains voltage is low). You might try plugging the charger in somewhere else in the house to check.

Unless you are a qualified electrician (which I don't think you are :)) I STRONGLY advise you not to mess with the electrics at your home, get a properly qualified electrician to come and check over you house electrics and verify that the laptop charger gets both the voltage it expects and can draw sufficient current.

Ok so it appears the problem happend again when I was at home then I went to my friends house again. Finally it happend at my friends house too. Problem is somewhat inconsistent can be quickly or take some time for it to show.
So we opened the laptop up (mind you we are both IT technicians, though my friend is alot more knowledgeable then me, i have very basics skills)
He measured the power supply and it measured what it suppose to 19.5v.

And it appears the Cooling paste on my GPU was making contacts it not suppose to. (it was leaking out over the chip next to it, UNDERNEATH the protective plastic flim that is on the GPU. Making contact to some small other iron thingies..
Anyway my friend cleaned it out nicely and it looked all clean again.

However we found the GPU board itself has some damage. Pictures here:

http://prntscr.com/n8ndd4
http://prntscr.com/n8ndgs

As you can see the board is a bit burned in one corner, on the other side there is a mosfet.
From reading online it seems a number of people had success with replacing all the mosfets.
So this is what we will attempt to do, though we do not have a heatgun, and we will have to aquire one to do so.

Question here. Can a 1080 or 1080TI board fit in this Clevo Laptop?
And what could be a cheap replacementboard for the 980m. That allows for browsing the internet/watching 1080p movies?
Or perhaps even fortnite at low settings?

can you run it with just the onboard graphics?

Those would be sufficient for those uses.

There won't be a 'cheap' replacement.

The laptop doesn't have onboard graphics I think.
The laptop also has thunderbolt connection but there is no option in the bios to switch GPU at all.
If I were to connect a thunderbolt connection to the laptop with a GPU would it work and automatically detect and switch?

When you say "there won't be a cheap replacement" I mean something that doesn't cost 400 or 500 or more euro.
Do you know the compatible mobile gpu list for my laptop? Im sure there are other GPU compatible then my "expensive 980m"
What could be a "cheaper" replacement towards those uses. prefeably in the 100-350 range.

If it's got an Intel CPU, it has the graphics since they exist on the chip. I'm just not sure whether you can run the laptop with the MXM card removed and/or if you can force the laptop to use the CPU graphics.

That's what I mean. These things aren't cheap. Maybe you could take a punt on a 2nd hand one but they might not be cheap either.

Eurocom apparently sell a 965M for a bit under £300: http://www.eurocom.com/ec/upgrade(2,358,0)CLEVO_P770DM_SAGER_NP9778_XMG_U706
A 965M will be some way under a desktop GTX 1050, performance wise.
I was surprised the price was as low as that tbh.

You may want to contact PCS and get a quote from them in case they can source replacement 980Ms any cheaper.

I don't think it supports 1000 series GPUs. Eurocom don't list those as parts for the chassis, and there's a thread here about a bit of DIY hacking to get one to work: http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...si-gtx-1070-mxm-4k-lcd-upgrade-thread.813156/ The point being it's not guaranteed and involves significant elements of YMMV.

Well Cheap is a relative term. if I see most high end cards being 500 to 1000 euro on ebay. then with cheap I mean under 500. But by no means I am expecting a high end card in return for that.
I see that 965m is a little over 400 dollar. Thats still alot of money for a gaming laptop thats on its way out (im buying a gaming desktop) if there was a gpu just one level below that. That be great. I just want this laptop to turn into a internet browsing/light gaming machine.

Thanks for your reply. Ill contact PCS.

My cpu is an i5 6500. So yeah.. you're in the same boat you have no idea if I can connect an external GPU. And if so how .
Doesn't PCS check threads on the forum?

The forums are not an official support channel, they're for the customer community. If you want feedback from PCS, contact PCs.
