As advised by the config tool, I thought I would come on here for a bit of feedback.

I have built some machines before, a while back, but I'm looking for a quick turnaround on a new machine as my laptop has died and I'd like to get one pre-built this time.

This is for gaming, but nothing too intense. Mainly GTA & LoL. Just looking for some general feedback, have I gone overboard somewhere or cheaped out somewhere else? Budget was around £1000-1200.

Now, I also have some questions regarding the finance option. I'd like to start this on finance, but with the view to pay off the full balance within 6 months or so. Can I choose how much I pay off each month, or do I have to either pay it all or over 48 months? Is there a middle ground?

Thanks!

You do not get to choose how much you pay per month, but you can pay it all off in one lump sum within the first year and have no interest to pay (noting that there is an early repayment fee - I think its about £29 - so its a minimal amount compared with how much interest you would otherwise be paying)

I see. Ideally, I'd like to pay in a few £200/300 sums you see. I guess I could just save the lump sums up over 9-12 months then pay before crossing the 12 month period.

Well I have a feeling someone else posted that you could overpay, but I can't find the post and I just don't know as I haven't used the finance option, so it's a possibility, but if it isn't the case then yes just save up what you would be overpaying and pay it all of before 12 months is up.

If you're happy to pay £200/£300 per month then set that aside, pay whatever the finance company asks and put the balance in some sort of savings account, or under your mattress if you prefer. That way you'll probably have close enough to pay off the balance after 12 months....

The 3gb VRAM on the GPU is a little lean for a system of that budget, and it's not very futureproof. The 6gb version might be worth getting, and is also slightly more powerful besides the VRAM.

Some of the M.2 Samsung drives might be worth looking at, as they'll be a similar cost to the HyperX but are faster.

The Hydra 1000 in the review section https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/reviews/ has a more powerful spec overall (OCed i5, GTX 1060 6gb) and a fixed price of £1000.

If you don't like the hydra, perhaps something like this based around your spec above:

The overclock may be particularly beneficial for MMOs like LoL which can be quite reliant on single threaded performance.

Thanks for the reply and recommendations! I will take a look tomorrow.

I reckon the finance deal then saving money each month will work just fine. Makes it easier for me to get a new PC right now anyway.
