I have done a memory test with no errors or faults, I have 64 bit OS, I haven't checked max memory, is there anyone here who can help me fix this?, also I have Ubuntu installed and don't know how to get onto the boot screen when starting up the computer so if you tell me to go to boot I need to know how because I haven't been able to get on it, here is what my loading screen looks like, this isn't a picture I took but it's very similar to mine

When you dual boot a Linux distribution with Windows (or even just other distributions), you will be presented with a boot screen almost identical to what you have shown in your fist screenshot - called GRUB (GRand Unified Bootloader). Simply press Enter on your keyboard to boot into the currently highlighted option, and the arrow keys to highlight other options.

From everything you've said, it sounds like either the extra 4 GB of memory has not been seated correctly on the motherboard (which is an easy fix if this is the case) or was mistakenly not included when the machine was built. I would suggest contacting PC Specialist directly for help. You can contact them by e-mail on [email protected] or by calling 0333 011 7000.

I know you say you've installed a 64-bit OS but the most likely reason for what you see is that the PC is in 32-bit mode. To check that you have installed the 64-bit version go to Control Panel > System and in the display that follows the "System Type" will tell you whether you have a 64-bit or 32-bit OS installed.

You can also check the C:\ drive in Windows, if you have a 64-bit version you'll have a Program Files folder and a Program Files (x86) folder. If you don't have both it's a 32-bit system.

I think it's important that you double-check what system you have installed before looking at anything else.

You're welcome. I'm happy to give up my time, energy, and experience to try to help you solve your problem.

People make mistakes, it's always worth double checking these things.
