Computer shutting down when trying to run games.

Hej,

A few days ago my rig started shutting down when trying to run games. I've reapplied thermal paste to both cpu and gpu, un-installed and re-installed drivers. Finally thinking it was the gpu I bought a replacement, it worked for maybe 2 hours and the same thing happens. The screen goes blank and then the fans start to go crazy on the gpu.... though I'm looking at a new rig this one i wanted to pass onto a nephew but have no idea whats happening... Anyone have any troubleshooting ideas I can try?

Gpu is a Gigabyte GTX 1060 extreme gaming mounted on a P7P55D-E mobo with a 600 psu.

Thanks in advance.

Is this a PCS build?

As above, but since it's Christmas and given what you've already tried, I' think I'd be suspecting the PSU.

Did you monitor temperatures before doing all that repasting?

Are you monitoring temps now?

Have you done a full, clean Windows installation? - i.e. delete all partitions on the drive, install Windows, let Windows handle all driver updates, then install only the game/benchmarks you are testing this on?

As a last resort to rule out software issues you could install Linux and play any game you have that is supported on Linux to see what happens.

I'd agree with the above that PSU could well be a culprit.

You say you're in the market for an upgrade, and people here can always suggest a PC Specialist system to suit your needs + budget.

Since the forums belong to PC Specialist, we can't provide extensive support on non-PCS systems. But as you're looking to salvage the system as far as possible as part of the upgrade, the above was what sprang to mind :)
