Confirmation on PC update?

Hey guys!

Can someone please confirm what the "Processing" stage is? I've seen multiple different explanations ranging from the payment going through and being authorised, or to the order waiting to be sent to the building team.

It'll be day 3 of processing tomorrow, and the CPU I chose had the "Pre-order only" message removed from it today. Will this impact the Processing stage?

Thanks!

How did you pay for it?

This is their process flowchart, "Processing means that the order and payment is still being confirmed"

status_guide.png

Awaiting Payment

If your order status says Awaiting Payment, this means that your order has not yet been processed. If you've sent a payment to us by a bank transfer, please allow three working days for the payment to clear. We check for payments several times daily and we will update your status and email you as soon as we confirm the payment.

Processing

If your order status says Processing, this means that we have confirmed your payment and your order is now being prepared for production.

Pre-Production

If your order status says Pre-Production, this means that we have confirmed your payment and your order has been passed through to our production department. The specification will be gathered and your order will be prepared for building & testing. It is quite normal for orders to remain at this status for several days.

In Building

If your order status says In Building, this means that your order has now been built. You may find that your order now has notes attached to it. You can view these by clicking "show" on your order.

In Testing

If your order status says In Testing, this means that your order has now entered the testing, configuration and quality control process. You may find that your order now has notes attached to it. You can view these by clicking "show" on your order.

Awaiting Dispatch

If your order status says Awaiting Dispatch, this means that your order has passed through our production facility and has now moved through to our dispatch warehouse where specially designed packaging will be prepared and any peripherals you have ordered will be collected. Normally your order will be dispatched the same day providing your order reaches this status before 3pm.

Order Dispatched

Finally, if your order status says Order Dispatched, this means that your order has been dispatched to you by courier. You will receive an email with your invoice(s) and tracking numbers once your order reaches this status.

Awaiting Credit Check (Finance Application Not Completed)

If your order status says Awaiting Credit Check, this means that you have placed an order, but you have not yet completed the online credit check with PaybyFinance (from Hitachi Capital Plc)*. If you have paid your deposit online you will be able to click the link "Complete Finance Application" to continue online. Alternatively you can contact PaybyFinance (from Hitachi Capital Plc) on 0844 375 5513 or pay by another method.

Finance Accepted

If your order status says Finance Accepted, this means that you have been accepted for your chosen finance agreement. You now need to post the finance agreement documents to PaybyFinance (from Hitachi Capital Plc). Once they receive the documents they will give us the go ahead to proceed with your order.

Finance Referred

If your order status says Finance Referred, this means that a decision could not be made automatically based on the information you entered on your application. You will be updated shortly (usually within 24 hours) regarding the decision and we will send you an email as soon as we have further information.

Finance Declined

If your order status says Finance Declined, this means that our finance provider (PaybyFinance (from Hitachi Capital Plc)) have not accepted your application for finance. If you would still like to proceed with the order you can pay by another method by clicking "Show" and following the options listed.

I've bought it on Finance and I've got the all-clear with Hitachi Finances and the "Order Processed" email :)

Thanks for sending this over, much appreciated. Will the "Pre-order only" message being removed mean the CPU is now in stock?

Yeah, so that has to be verified with hitachi and then they’ll send through the confirmation to PCS. It takes a few days.

Yes, was it the 3300x? If so that was released today so they will have stocks now as they get stocks on release day being an AMD and Intel partner.

It was the i7-10700K, everywhere online states the release date is 27/5 so I'm not sure what's going on here :) Maybe it could be in stock and can be built, but not dispatched until after the 27th May?

Yes, that's not released until next week. Have you had advice on your build? I can see very few cases where that CPU makes sense?

Yeah we spoke on another forum chain, the CPU choice is due to being able to run the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 coming out later this year and to future proof my PC :)

The live chat stated they received some in stock today which didn't make sense as it's not released until the 27th May. Just really confused about all of this and when to expect my PC to actually start being built

But that's what I mean, for those requirements it's the wrong platform entirely!

I would seriously suggest cancelling and getting some advice on an AMD build, it would smash that all over the place and for less money.

Intels are really poor these days, they're best avoided except for 1080p 240Hz competitive gameplay, there's literally no other use case where they make sense.

Ok, just to add the reasoning...

MS2020 is confirmed to be DirectX12 which heavily utilises multithreaded workloads.
It is also being released on both the upcoming XBox Series X and Playstation 5. These are both on AMD platforms of 8 core 16 threads.

So it's painfully obvious, that it's going to be optimised for AMD.

Plus, at any pricepoint, AMD processors have about DOUBLE the multithreaded performance of Intel and at drastically reduced cost.

You're making a huge mistake getting an Intel platform, it's just madness.

With regards to futureproofing, you're doing the exact opposite, the Intel is the weaker choice and will be defunct much much sooner.

I really would cancel but unfortunately it would destroy my credit score cancelling a finance agreement, and I wouldn't be able to reorder. Is there any tips you can give me to change with my processor I have currently?

Sorry about this by the way, I should have come here first for tips but I was too excited :(

It wouldn't affect your credit score at all, you have 14 days in any UK agreement to cancel without affecting your rights in any way, that's standard buyer protection.

Your system will be fine with the intel cpu
That’s like saying paying 60k for a Volkswagen polo is “ok”. Of course it’s a car, but you can do much better for the money, and something like FS2020 is going to react a lot better to AMD

To be honest I'll just stick with what I've got. I don't want to go through the hassle of changing it over to an AMD system as I have no clue whatsoever about that side of the PC world. I guess the 10th gen processors are new so we'll see how they perform :)

Thanks for the input anyway @SpyderTracks , I'll 100% ask the community next time about an AMD build before purchasing again!

Reviews are already out for 10th gen and they’re not very good outside of 1080p competitive gameplay.

It’s your choice obviously, but for the sake of a 5 minute job, it seems crazy to continue with a duff platform.

Configure me an AMD build (as I obviously know nothing about them) and I'll have a look into it. My budget is £1500, can push to £1600 if really needed. I want it as close to what I have now but in AMD terms if you can :) I'll post my specs below what I've currently got ordered

The Inferno L2 from the reviews section here, it's £1800 of kit for £1500 but you have to order it as it is:

Same GPU, but the processor is in a completely different league. Will keep up with the i7 in single threaded, but absolutely destroy it in multithreaded which is what FS2020 will primarily use

It needs an extra 16Gb RAM, if you order it, then call PCS and ask them to add a further 16Gb, they should be fine with that.

I'm going to need to customise it due to storage etc, I'll have a play around and see what I can come up with
