Control centre Backlit keyboard, Flexikey and Fan speed control not working

SpyderTracks

We love you Ukraine
I just copied and pasted what I had on my orders page, the specs such as the gpu, ssd, ram and cpu seem to be the same as what is in my orders page, so I assumed it is the correct order.
If those specs are pasted directly from the order page then you’ve been given the wrong laptop.

So I got a response from the PCSpecialist team, they seem to believe it's a hardware problem and I'm not sure why, given that the backlit keyboard works after a cold reboot. Not sure what to do tbh, if I can't fix it myself, I might just live without the backlit keyboard which is annoying, but not impossible.

There are actually two Optimus chassis that we sell, one of which is a Clevo chassis and one which is a Tong Fang chassis.

Your chassis is the Clevo NH55DDW - and if there is an issue with the keyboard backlight that's not resolved through the Control Centre then I would expect it to be a hardware issue which will need to be resolved by bringing the laptop back to our factory for repair.

With kind regards,

How old is it? What do PCS want to charge to fix it?

Based on that dump I'd agree that a hardware issue is most likely. The dump shows Clevo software failing on a Clevo chassis - that points strongly to hardware.

What would worry me is the extent of the hardware issue and what else might be affected or how much worse it might become.

I bought it in June, £35 collection fee and also 15-20 days, it's quite a long time to go without a laptop.

So you're just paying for the shipping (this is why the silver warranty is such good value). Your warranty will cover everything else.

£35 sounds like a cheap repair to me. Sadly you will have to wait, there's really no way around that, but you want a fully working laptop surely?

You could try a third party keyboard led control for clevo chassis? I use one myself.
Same, was just going to suggest that

also, for the OP, what version of Clevo Control Center are you running? Is the Clevo Service definitely running in task manager?

Godlike
Can we just get to the bottom of whether the OP has received the wrong chassis or not. Surely trouble shooting a laptop he has to send back because he has been sent the wrong chassis in the first place is a complete waste of everyone's time?

The chasis is correct according to PCSpecialist in their response they sent me, as mentioned above. I have tried a third party keyboard LED software and it doesn't seem to do anything. One thing I realised however is, that when I uninstall Control Centre completely, I shutdown my laptop and start it again and the LED keyboard is in a blue color and it doesn't stop. However, when Control Centre is installed, the backlit keyboard turns off after a few minutes from the restart. To me, this suggest more or less certainly it is a software issue, rather than a hardware issue?

If it were a software issue then a fully clean install of Windows from bootable media, allowing Windows Update to install all drivers, and installing a freshly downloaded copy of Control Center from the Clevo download site would fix that.

I think you've done all that already(?) which points to a hardware problem.

I haven't done a fully clean install, I'll give that a go then.

So I looked into my services and found that CCDCHUService was stopped. I right click and ran it and I can now control my backlit keyboard with my FN keys. The issue of changing the color with the control centre still seems to not work, which I guess is not so bad. Upon restart, I had the same problem in not being able to control my keyboard with the FN keys, so I went into task manager and restarted the CCDHUService and it seemed to give me back control.

I've also tracked where this service is called from, does the "amd" bit have any significance, given that my architecture is all Intel?

C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\acpi0002.inf_amd64_28b06a958ce27521\DCHUService.exe

No, amd64 is a standard identifier for Intel/AMD x64 architecture.

Yeah I've done that, but what happens is that sometimes it is on and the keyboard still can't be controlled via FN buttons and then I have to restart it. I've also set it to restart if it ever fails.
And this is after a clean install of Windows?
