Copying between drives starts fast, then slows massively

Hi everybody

I have a video editing machine with a 4TB HDD for storing video files on and a 2TB SSD where I put the project files and clips I am editing. When I copy a folder full of files (up to 300GB-worth) from the HDD to the SSD it starts copying at a fair old lick – 2-2.5GB/s but then after about a minute it drops to around 200MB/s.

I'm guessing it's something to do with a cache but can I change the settings to get it to copy the whole folder at 2GB/s? I like that speed better.

The BSOD Doctor
The HDD data transfer rate (the rate at which data can be sucked off an HDD as the disk revolves under the heads) is about 160MB/s so a 200MB/s transfer rate from an HDD is pretty good. :)

Ah, OK. Thanks. So the 2GB at the start, that's just spoiling me, is it? Thought it would be too good to be true. Thanks guys!
