Hey everyone,

I received this laptop from PCS yesterday.

Chassis & Display
Optimus Series: 15.6" Matte Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i5 Dual Core Mobile Processor i5-3230M (2.60GHz) 3MB
Memory (RAM)
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 (2 x 4GB)
Graphics Card
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M - 2.0GB DDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 11
Memory - 1st Hard Disk
750GB WD SCORPIO BLACK WD7500BPKT, SATA 3 Gb/s, 16MB CACHE (7200 rpm)

(please ask if you need more specs)

Now, I've been having an awesome time on Torchlight 2 and Fifa 13 looks great too, but the frame rate on CS:S is terrible, I'm averaging about 30 fps on high / default settings..

Lowering the settings makes barely any difference. I've read through the sticky regarding white-listing games and whilst the Nvidia GPU activity monitor shows that CS:S is using the dedi gfx, it really doesn't feel like it is.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Al

Even though it's being shown as being whitelisted, it'll only use the GPU if it's actually on. If you have the hotkey drivers installed, the VGA button will switch between iGPU and GPU, basically if the light is green the GPU won't be active so rubbish performance in games and if it's orange it's running full power and will work better with games.

Hope that helps ya.

Update

I think multi-core rendering was disabled within CS:S as I've enabled it and everything is ok now :)

I'm pretty sure the option wasn't even there initially though, weird.

All sorted!
