CPU Cooler

Hi guys,

So this is my spec that has been sitting in pre-prod for 4 days and obviously with that much time you start thinking about all the components in your system and whether you chose the right ones lol.

My question is, I went with the Noctua u14s fan over stock cooler, mainly because of noise levels, The GPU will be noticable at max and I don't want the CPU fan on top of that and from watching reviews on youtube, the Noctua is definitely a lot quieter, so would you have choice a different cooler? or maybe even a water cooled? I've heard the pump noise can get loud?

I would personally go for a H80i on that CPU, I just personally prefer closed loops. But the Noctua is an amazing cooler, both performance and sound wise.

Thanks I will check out the water cooler. My only concerns with a water cooler is I read stories of the pump failing? or possibly water leak? how rare are these occurances?

On another note, my MSI MAG272CQR monitor came today and all I can say it WOW.. the build quality, picture quality is incredible and it's only connected to my laptop so far. So much better than the Samsung which was also a VA panel.. but the difference between them is night and day.. quality of pixels just seems so much more dense and sharp and looks more like an IPS panel.

Pump failure can happen, but with the i ones (h80i) you can monitor them with software so you can set alarms and auto power down and stuff if anything is wrong. But failures are very rare these days. Leaks are almost non existent and even if they do leak, it’s non conductive coolant so won’t do any damage apart from making a mess. Corsair support and warranty is amazing though should the worst happen and that’s if you’re outside of PCS warranty which is fantastic also.

Ive had an H100i running in my system for about 5 years now non stop, system is on 24/7 and I’ve never had an issue, they’re superb coolers. Worth getting them with quiet fans of the option is available and always get the i version.

I’m a huge fan of the MSI’s they pack a lot of high end tech into quite a low budget. VA panels are just so good these days a lot of the usual drawbacks just aren’t there to the same degree any more, whereas the plus points are still just as strong. That’s a lovely monitor!
