CPU for gaming - AMD X4 970 or i7 950

Hi guys,

So just about ready to treat myself for Christmas

Basically I'll mainly use the new PC for gaming, I'd like to futureproof as much as possible but would'nt mind saving if I can. What would you advise? Would a X4 970 last me quite a while? Or spend a little more for the intel?

It depends what your budget is and how much your willing to spend.

Obviously if future proofing is your number one aim then go for the I7 950 as it's a faster processor and will be better at every day tasks other than gaming but comes at an extra cost.

If you however want a CPU that can handle gaming very well and want to save a few pounds then the Phenom II X4's will definately do the business, you could then spend the money saved on upgrading your graphics card to something more "top of the line" that will last you longer before needing to upgrade again.
