CPU GPU combo advice please

Hi all.
I’m planning a build in the very near future. X670 motherboard. 7800x3d with 32gb 6000 ram but my dilemma is whether to get a 4070ti super or 4080 super. 1440p and hopefully venturing into 4k.
I play a bit of warzone, Helldivers and various mmo’s and arpgs.

Should I get the 4080 super? My budget does allow.

I just want to know which GPU is best suited to the build. 4070ti super or 4080 super. The build I listed was the more expensive

To be able to help, we need specific information, otherwise you end up with bottlenecks and spending needless money for no return.

You said you had a 1440p monitor but you've linked a 4k which isn't available yet? I take it you're looking to upgrade to 4k, but when is that as that will affect the build? And if it's for say over 6 months, then we need the full specifications of your current monitor as you've only given resolution?

This is all outlined in the link I first posted, it's very frustrating when people don't take the time to read it.

And the rest as requested? This is getting really challenging.

Can I ask, did you actually read the link I posted? Is there any reason you don’t give the information requested in it? What about it didn’t make sense?

If you want straight sales assistance then it's best to contact PCS directly. They will sell you whatever you wish in whatever configuration or guise you wish. I can't speak for them, but my guess is they would suggest the 4080 with the fact that you want to venture into 4k down the line.

That's not how we operate though. We are enthusiast volunteers who only frequent the forum to see folks getting the best bang for their buck that they can. We do our best to try and steer people to what makes sense. For the most part we are collective in our thinking but we all have various nuances of what we prefer individually.

With regards to your build, it's not terrible but there are some choices jumping out at me that don't make sense. The reason for the collaboration post linked by @SpyderTracks is to save us from going through this blurb every single time someone comes on with this one track way of thinking. We point them to that post hoping that it then brings clarity of what we do and how we can assist.

Every now and again even that is ignored & overlooked, such is the case here. We want to help but if you're not after the help and willing to give us the information we require to help you then there's not a lot more we can do. We won't answer individual questions in solitude as it's like asking for the middle part of a formula without knowing the outer extremities of how it comes about.

So... the TL;DR, or can't be bothered, approach.... the 4080 Super is the card for 4k gaming.

Thanks Scott. I do intend buying one of the new 32 inch oleds when then become available. Either the LG or ROG swift.

You mention some choices I’ve made don’t make sense to you. Which are they?

Also guys, I apologise for being naive, my last pc build was 2009. I’m way out of the loop

Naivety isn't the issue at all, it's glossing over what's being said and not providing the information that's being requested.

It's a lot of money for you to be spending so I would take some time to understand and digest what is being asked & why. The link posted above has sooooooo much information in it that would show what's wrong in the build. I'm not suggesting that you should go it alone with this information, but merely suggesting if you made an attempt to read and understand what is being requested, not to mention providing it, you would get a perfectly tailored build for you.

Issues I see straight away:
Overspend on motherboard - Required?
Overspend on branded GPU - Required?
Single drive - Not recommended, Samsung wouldn't be recommended either.
Far too low PSU - 1000w minimum, 1200w better if you want future upgrade headroom.
Cooler - Is link an option?
Software - Bin Norton, it's a nightmare
Warranty - Silver is only £5

On the GPU specifically, the queries above pertain to it's suitability. I don't think it's the right choice as you're buying a 4k GPU for a 1440p system waiting on a new 4k monitor to come out, by which time the 4080 Super will be a 1440p GPU and you'll need to upgrade to keep at the same performance level.
