Custom Build for Graphics Rendering - Do I need a threadripper or X series?

Hi all,

I'm looking at buying a new rig to support my need for rendering graphics for a game I create.

I'm currently running quite an old R9 3900x with 64gb 3200mhz ram with a 4090.

I am looking to upgrade to add a second 4090 as the rendering needs cuda cores (DAZ Studio).

I did build my pc myself initially, but I feel like as I'm getting further into the higher end of things, I want it done right. The more I've been looking into compatability etc, and lanes and power (and so on and so forth), I feel like I need to get some advice on a build maybe?

Can someone help me out please? Do I need to go threadripper or Intel X series for this? I'd like to avoid if possible (obviously due to the massive cost, but if needs must, then I can do).

What would the budget be

Thanks for the reply. I'd be looking at the very most to be spending £4000.

Where I'm landing right now is potentially going for a threadripper 7970X 32 core with 64 ddr5 4800mhz, 1600psu, and just using my solo 4090 for the time being until I can afford a second to add in.

I'd be really interested in your opinion though. I was thinking I'd rather spend the money on a solid base, then add to it in terms of GPU as I get more revenue in.

Another thing is, PC specialist only seem to offer up to 1600w PSU's. Surely for a multi stack of 4090's, I'd potentially start needing more than that?
