Debating IPS flat or VA curved (16:9) Ryzen 7 7700/ RTX 3060Ti

Hello everyone.

As the title suggests, I’m trying to decide on a new monitor for my order, which is currently in pre-production (PC Specialist build).

From a monitor perspective, I have to say I’m not impressed with the major drawbacks of both technologies (IPS poor contrast and VA smeared blacks and poor viewing angles), and I feel like anything will be a downgrade from my LG C2 OLED.

I’m looking for a 2560x1440p monitor at 27 inches, but can be flexible regarding the aspect ratio. I don’t want to spend over £450 if possible. I also cannot decide between flat or curved at 16:9.

Spec is a RTX 3060Ti and Ryzen 7700 DDR5 build. Can’t wait for it to arrive!

Thanks so much for any advice or support!

You’d probably need an IPS with high-zone FALD, so that the backlight can be disabled more precisely and limit bleeding.

Or an OLED (which are well above your budget)

Thanks Tony- much appreciated.

I’ve decided to stretch my budget a little further, and am considering this:

MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD Gaming IPS Monitor - 27 Inch, 16:9 WQHD (2560 x 1440)

Any thoughts on this one? Reviews seem decent! I don’t play Esports- but what attracted me was the colour vibrancy and accuracy.

It's a terrific display. Probably about as good as a 1440p display gets, even a couple of years after it came out.

Thanks guys, seems worth it at £499. I spend a ridiculous amount of time researching before I buy- it's so tiring, albeit rewarding in the end. I think this will be the one!
