Defiance 15.6 Configuration advice

Hi all,

I've ordered the below laptop and wanted a little advise on the configuration. The main use of the laptop will be running VMware workstation (for work) hence the maximum memory configuration.

However I will be using this for some gaming as well (including VR).

I think the configuration is okay (open to opinions from others), however I was wondering whether having two identical Samsung 970 EVOs in the setup would cause a problem or not?

I've read on other forums within here that others have experienced problems in different chassis (guessing earlier releases) that two 970 Evos in a setup don't always play well together.

Happy to take any advise, as I still have time to make changes before PSC start my build.

Configuration seems ok - I have been around on the forums for a few months now since ordering my new laptop and not read or seen anything about issues on having two the same M2 drives in the same chassis.

I assume you have a Windows licence to use and are aware this will therefore need a clean install when the machine arrives (even if it has a version of Windows on it already).

My only comment would be that when paying over £1500, I highly recommend the GOLD warranty as it is only £69 (a small amount to pay compared to price of laptop) and increases the parts warranty of the laptop to TWO years.

Are you aware as well that the price of the 17.3" laptops (£1860*) are not a lot more than the 15" (£1823*) ones. * - assuming I have entered your order correctly. Also its only 0.3kg heavier.

I did consider going for the 17.3" version. My current and previous laptop(s) are/were all 17". I fancied a slighly smaller chassis this time as most of the time I'll be connected to my 24" Monitor and the laptop screen will just be viewing emails.

I've got Windows licensing sorted and will perform a clean install. Thanks for the tip regarding warranty, I'll extend to GOLD.

I'm thinking of the exact same build but with 16GB. Can you give feedback and review once you receive it please?
Im just hearing mixed reports on the thermals.
