Delivery gone missing

Hello was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with DPD losing your order. My order was shipped last Friday and there were three tracking updates on that same day. Was due for delivery yesterday but there was no tracking updates, so I called them up to make sure everything was ok and the guy said he checked and had no clue where my package was. He emailed someone to try and locate it. So obviously I'll contact pcs tomorrow and I'll ring dpd again but it genuinely looks like it's gone missing. Obviously pretty devasted but hopefully it turns up I guess. Anyone had similar issues and what was the outcome?

I've not heard of this happening before, it sounds ridiculous.

Definitely call PCS, it shouldn't be your responsibility to chase this.

What's your track record like with DPD?

As @ubuysa says, give PCS a call and see if they can liaise with DPD to get this found. There's no way it can just go missing, it's tracked at every contact point.

I mean I have never had a problem with them. But yea this morning the tracking was updated to out for delivery yesterday and the delivered to back door. I have been home at it hasn't been delivered and yesterday when I rang dpd they had no clue where my pc was. Doesn't look good to be honest, going to ring pcs now.

That sucks. Hope you get it sorted quickly.

Ok so was in queue for 30 mins when I rang pcs so I gave up and rang dpd. DPD automated response said it was delivered yesterday which obviously isn't true, so automated response says to press 0 to speak to someone. Yesterday that worked, today it's not registering me pressing that option, tried on different phones too so what the he'll does that mean? It said it was signed by backdoor and was delivered to my back door but it's very hard to get to my back door thru a locked gate. Yesterday dpd had no clue where my package was but was apparently delivered yesterday. Can't get in contact with anyone. What am I to do now?

Also on the dpd tracking it doesn't even specify what address it was delivered to.

Did you receive dispatch information via email? Tracking info' should be found in there.

DPD aren't able to leave this parcel in a safe location, so if no one is home to accept the order, it would be taken back for a second delivery attempt.
They also take a picture of the parcel in your door way when you accept the delivery - you can view the picture, address, map and driver through the DPD app. I had a monitor delivered with DPD the day before my PCS order and it was the same process.

This is a very good point, they are required to get a signature for this and aren’t allowed to leave it in a safe place like neighbours or back door at all, it has to be signed for by a person at that address.

Ok so after 30 mins on the phone with my local dpd branch, I found out it was delivered a few minutes away to the wrong address. Delivery driver left it outside some little old ladies back door, she had no idea it was there. The box is completely soaked but pretty sure the pc is fine. Like how does that happen lmao

I've just had my system dispatched and received an e-mail earlier with the tracking information / other documents. I received another e-mail just now re: tomorrow delivery, in it they specially state that the driver is unable to leave this item safe, so I would definitely contact PCS about the issue if you have not done so already.

From DPD's email the parcel number should exist below the show my options line if this helps at all.

Edit: Glad to hear you have been able to locate the PC - human error does happen but I do not know why they left it when the information states it's not supposed to be left. (I left the initial reply intact as it contains information that could help in future queries)

So the driver not only didn't leave it in a safe place, which he wasn't allowed to do anyway, he left it out in the rain at the wrong address.

It is totally unacceptable for DPD to do that.

I'd get in touch with PCS and tell them what's happened regardless even if everything works fine. DPD should not be doing that under any circumstances.

Hey,

I would definitely give us a call or drop an email as this shouldn't have happened and we could have contacted DPD on your behalf.

Sadly we are currently very busy on our phone lines at the minute so if you are waiting too long, I would recommend to call us back later. An email at this stage might be best.

On a side note I would be extremely concerned about using a system that was left outside in the rain.

When I received my laptop they, (not DPD, my local (country) delivery service (Postnord), was about to leave it just sitting in my carport. They didn't even knock or ring the doorbell (I know since I was watching them from my window). I got out and the guy said "oh, somebody was home" went back to get it and handed it to me. Didn't have to sign anything either.
We do have a thing here ( Denmark) where you can tell them to delever a place of your choice, (front/back door, carport, etc.) if you aren't home, and I am signed up on it.
The package entered Postnords hub, when it first arrived in Denmark. Also it didn't state that the package was from pcspecialist, but from Glass Designs Europe LTD, and originally came form Sheffield.
Should I send an email to pcspecialist informing them about this or? It didn't bother me, though I did think it was a bit odd

I wouldn't have thought that PCS have any control over a non-UK delivery service.

Did you have to claim the machine from the little old lady yourself? I'm glad you found her in one piece. Happy computing.

Yea I will email you guys for sure. Yea I was also concerned but I checked everything was dry before use. The packaginging was all intact, just wet lol. I'm just glad to have it now. Thanks for all the help everyone.
Although the contract with DPD was with PCS and not you, I would still write a polite but very strongly worded email/letter to DPD, and to their customer services department in the central office too. Include a copy of the labels on the box so they can identify the package.

At the very least that driver needs some serious retraining.

Yea I asked her if she got a parcel delivered to her back door the day before and she said that she didn't think so because she hadn't heard anything. I asked her id she could have a look to make sure and there it was lol. Glad I spent the hour on the phone to dpd, If I hadn't who knows what the outcome would of been.
