"Desktop Replacement" Laptop

Hello!

I've recently moved and couldn't take my desktop (i5-4790K/Radeon 270X) with me. Looking to - if I can convince myself - splash out on a laptop that I can consider my daily driver for everything -

Daily "home office" work, light programming, hosting VMs, Gaming (I'm using Cities Skylines, XCOM 2, Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 as my "standards", if I can get 60 (144?!) FPS on those, I'll be happy :) ), video editing, skype calling, Twitch Streaming, Minecraft Server Hosting..

I have some spare DDR4 2666 MHz laptop RAM from a friend, an entry-level mouse that does the pointing and click, and salvaged the old SATA HDD off my desktop, so I've cut those out of the below system to save a bob or two.

I have some concerns about longevity/toughness/thermals, my previous laptop is a 6 year old midrange ultrabook that's seen better days but survived a lot. This would be about 2x the price, so I'd have to be comfortable that the 9750H isn't going to throttle back to my current 3rd Gen i5's speeds, and such. Your advice and input appreciated :)

Also picked out this model as it has the TB3 port, so in 5 years time I can plug in an external ИTX 7080Ti and give it a new lease of life! Does that make sense?

If you're potentially mix&matching RAM sticks, know that both ram sticks will perform as well as the weakest stick. That means, latency, timing, voltage, frequency etc, will underclock for the superior RAM stick. If you wanna fix that you'd have to mess around in the uefi/bios menus and experiment.
CPU is great. Undervolting is always advised on PCS forums. So look into that. Repasting is also beneficial every year. Better yet, just get corsair thermal paste in the first place, so you'll start off with a more ideal situation.
You could get laptop cooler too for extra 30 quids.
Everything else looks solid.

I'd strongly suggest a better M2 than the one you've put in. You can get upto 30% on those speeds with a Samsung or WD drive.

Your machine has the ability, so use it I say. But, your cash my friend.
