Division freezing and/or freezin

hi guys,

I played the Division beta with no issues -got the Division proper last week and i cant do anything with it. It started off freezing after 20-30 mins play, now it freezes either as soon as i get in the game (ie. no issues on options screen) or crashes to desktop with no warning/error messages. Now, i know the beta was minimal compared to the full game but can that really be it?

specs below and ive updated GPU drivers, rolled back drivers, cleared drivers and then re-installed. ive tried every trick on the all the forums message boards : lowered priority, adjusted affinity (it seemed to hit 100% cpu usage when it froze and this was recommended), disabled/lowered/raised different graphic options in game (VSYNC off/on, lowered resolution, changed resolution without saving change, etc), adjusted NVIDIA control properties...

ive pretty much read every forum i can find and tried every 'fix' so far. For comparison - MGS5, Witcher 3, GTA5, Hitman all run absolutely fine on high/v.high settings.

does anyone have any idea or is it kaput (ie. my laptop not up to it)? If it is the laptop - how easily upgradable is it and what would anyone recommend? RAM and new GPU do it?

thanks, andy

You laptop substantially exceeds the minimum requirements for The Division: http://store.steampowered.com/app/365590/

I wonder if it's trying to use the integrated graphics for the game instead of the dGPU - might explain the CPU usage and then crashing even on super low settings.

Does it still crash on launch if you:

Try setting the Nvidia GPU as the preferred graphics processor in the global settings, and in the app settings you can also add the .exe file for The Division and set a specific setting for that

And set the Windows Power Plan to High Performance:

And set the GPU power settings to max performance:

Did you completely uninstall the beta version before you installed the RTM version? If you didn't then it's possible there are elements of the beta still there and getting in the way.

I would suggest you get an uninstall tool (I use the free IOBit Uninstaller) and use that to uninstall the game. After the uninstall, carefully review everything else that the uninstaller plans to delete and then allow it to delete those files and registry entries that you're happy with. (In my experience the IOBit uninstaller gets it right 99.999% of the time).

Then reboot. That's important to re-read the system registry.

Then install the RTM version of the game and see whether that's any better.
