Yes. If your laptop couldn't provide the power to run it, it wouldn't work at all.
They are very likely talking about the HD7970, no the HD7970m. The difference is, yours is the mobile version while theirs is the desktop version, which is much faster and uses more power.

In reviews on notebookcheck.com is writen that single 7970m needs 100W.
So Dual 7970m CrossFire will need around 200W together, i7 3720qm is 75W aprx. In summary it is around 300w.
Are you sure that 1 AC adaptor for 300W in enough?

Well that's 275W, and everything else in the laptop uses a pretty negligable amount of power, no more than 25W. PC Specialist wouldn't sell a laptop that couldn't power itself, if you want the piece of mind then I'd just email them and get confirmation.
