I have just completed remastering my PC from Vista to win7. All is fine except I cannot see my external e-sata connected drive. The motherboard came with an external e-sata port and it worked fine up to the point of installing win 7 professional 64 bit. Any ideas? Do I need to install a driver. if so from which site? Ta

Try restarting the computer with the drive connected,
windows should then recognise it and install any necessary software.

e-sata problem solved

I had time to try it this evening - many thanks - your help is absolutely spot on, the drive is now recognised and works fine.

Where does it get the driver from? Is it from the docking station that the drive is mounted into or does it reside already in windows 7.

If it is in win7, I would have it expected it to recognise the drive when the power is switched on to the docking station and the HDD starts to spin. You do not normally for exmaple with memory cards readers or flash drives etc need to boot up with the device connected for it to be seen.
