Hi all, recently received this desktop and I am constantly having driver timeouts. It will either run the game for 2 hours and timeout and then will time out pretty quick after rebooting the game. This has happened daily since I received the pc which was about 2 weeks ago. The game in question is Fortnite. For some reason Fortnite will only work with driver 2.22.2.

When it times out I get a black screen that then goes back to the desktop and an alert from Radeon stating it has timed out. Sometimes it crashes and freezes so then I’ve to do a complete restart of the pc. The last crash was the worst were the screen completely pixelated.

So far I have:
  • Checked for windows updates.
  • Set power mode to high performance mode.
  • Updated the driver to find the game does not work at all and Radeon would not open so I had to uninstall it and reinstall it again and then had to revert back to driver 2.22.2.
  • I’ve adjusted visual effects for best performance.
  • Decreased refresh rate of display.

Does anyone have any advice or any fixes that aren’t super techie because I am a complete noob.

I have also emailed pcs in relation hoping for some information or hopefully remote fixes.

Sounds like an issue limited to Fortnite and AMD drivers, hopefully AMD will release a driver update soon that resolves it

In the mean time I’d try a clean install of 2.22.2 by running DDU to remove current drivers, restart then install 2.22.2 (download direct from AMD, don’t use any driver update tools).

Failing that, a clean install of windows would be my next action

That’s what I’m hoping. I haven’t played any other games on it yet so fingers crossed it’s just a fortnite and amd issue.

Thanks, I’ll try that and give you an update with how things go!
