So heres the problem.

Last year suddenly my keyboard became erratic where it would either not work or every key would trigger randomly even the F buttons.

I rang up for help and they pointed me towards the drivers for the chassis, which i downloaded and this sorted the problem out.

Since then ive had to do a full windows reset from USB and the problem started to occur again.

this time ive downloaded the drivers for the chassis and the problem has not been fixed. ive read somewhere that maybe id have to get the driver again direct from the chassis provider but i dont know how to do this or if its what i need to do..

so here we are !

thanks in advance

Can you post your full spec using the Post to Forum button in your account page / order page - this will then show more information (including chassis) so that we can hopefully help you with this. (If it doesnt mention chassis, please take a photo of the label(s) on the bottom of your laptop or quote the model / make from it.

When you say you did a full windows reset from USB - was this a CLEAN install - ie deleted partitions and complete new install of Windows or was it just a reset?

Have you ensure that ALL Windows updates have run and completed - have a look at the optional updates too.

After ensuring that all updates have run, check Device Manager for any yellow warning triangles please.

I have just done the optional updates and any new ones that were available.
In device manager there is yellow triangle by: Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Failed), in USB controllers.

OK - what does the label underneath say re model / make / chassis?

Re the yellow triangle, can you right click and select Properties on it and go to the Details tab and select Hardware ID from the dropdown menu, can you copy and paste the information in that screen please.

Have you checked to see if there are any outstanding Windows Updates.

Re the traingle it just says :
USB\DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE

The chassis is TONGFANG according to the sticker.
Model no GI5CN5E

Ah - you will need to ask PCS if there is a new driver as TongFang dont have a support area for general public.

Have you recently opened your machine at all? Might be worth a quick look to ensure no loose connectors re keyboard etc.

ok ill ask tech support!
Also to answer your previous question yes it was a complete clean install off a usb.

no ive never opened it up! mainly because i thought it fixed it with the driver the first time. any suggestions how to go about it?

You might find this thread useful, think its the same chassis?
The customer also had issues with the keyboard, and the machine freezing or getting stuck on a key...

It might help, it might not... I didnt read all the way through.
Another thing could be to look at your PCS account and see if there is software there? Might be a case of rolling back the driver if you are unable to find a new one (assuming its a driver issue...)

Either way, worth sending an email off to PCS about it, especially if still in warranty, it might be an issue they already know about and have a fix for?

Its not in warranty unfortunately. It was the first time it happened though !

I lost the driver that was working at the time when I clean wiped it. Ill ask TS for any suggestions for other drivers and go from there.

Hi guys it's been 10 days with no responces from tech support. Can anyone advise on opening it up to check for keyboard connection?

It's possible that some app that you've installed might be modifying the keyboard driver (and fouling up). If you're comfortable using the registry editor then navigate to the following key:

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}

Before you do anything else, right click on the key in the left-pane and select export. Note where the exported file goes in case you need it back.

Then check the UpperFilters entry, if there is anything in there other than kbdclass then delete it (them). You might find that one or more apps don't have the same shortcut keys available as before but see whether this stops your problem.

If you need to restore this key to its original state then navigate to where the exported registry entry was saved and double-click it. This will restore that entry.
