eSATA on Optimus II 15"

Hi all,

Is the eSATA port on the Optimus II 15" powered? i.e. if I inserted an eSATAp cable into this port would it power a hd? or are esata and esatap entirely separate type of ports that I've confused?

Also is it eSATA II or III?

With an eSATAp to SATA cable I thought I could use some old hard drives I have lying around + the optical disk drive I'm going to remove from my laptop.
