I am on day 13 of pre pro! Was told that my power supply was due in yesterday morning ( after "i" e mailed them) but yet i am still in pre pro!! I think i am gonna be one of the unluck few that has to wait over a month for it :)
I did actually think that because of the amount of money i spent "3 & 1/2 k" i would have been told sooner but ho hum there 1-6 day production time was a tad out lol.

I'm on day 9 pre production, the lead times for laptop dispatch are 9.55 days average at the moment. I have not been given an explanation as to what the hold up is, no parts missing etc. I am not very impressed so far with the service. I just hope that when I do eventually receive my laptop it is perfect and meets my expectations. I am going to be doing a review good or bad when I do eventually get my laptop.

Remember that the 'average' is 9.55 days, some will be shorter times, some will be longer, sometimes things just take longer, and just because yours is going to take longer than the 9.55 days doesn't mean there is something specific holding it up.

Yea like Rakk said, you can't base your specific order on the average times, remember you agreed that it could take up to 30 days when signing the T&C's. My desktop only went into building on its 9th working day and it was dispatched on the 12th working day despite being given a 9-11 day estimate to begin with. Was I annoyed? No of course not, it could have taken a lot longer! What you have to remember is it's very close to Christmas and those wanting to treat themselves might be choosing now as the ideal time. If they choose the fast track option they will naturally go ahead of you in the 'queue'. Ordering from anywhere at this time of the year is bound to take longer than average.

Yeah I understand you can't base it on averages I can understand if there are hold ups ie missing parts, but I would expect to be informed if this is the case which I have not so I assume there are no problems so you start to think hang on a minute if the average is 9.5 days before dispatch then why is mine taking so long? I feel like I am being kept in the dark and other people are getting sorted quicker because that is what the averages are telling me or the averages wouldn't be so low.

I don't agree with this argument either, it takes the same amount of time to build a laptop regardless of the configuration. If I could buy the barebones I would have done it myself I have plenty of experience in building computers and would have built it in a materr of hours. So some should pnt take longer than others except when there are shortages of stock which I have not been informed of.

Most of the time is spent in the queue waiting to be built, and this is what changes, fast tracks for example sneak to the front of the queue when they are ordered.
Once into building the time taken is probably pretty similar for each laptop or desktop, but its the pre-production time that is variable

If you're getting a bit ratty in pre-production just remember you're not the only one: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?20416-Pre-production

Like I said earlier, you have no argument. By ordering from PCS, you accepted their terms and conditions which clearly state that orders can take up to 30 days. If you wanted 24/7 updates of how your order was going you should have bought the parts yourself and done it yourself. If you're that worried give them a call and ask for an update. Like I said though, people who fast track will naturally go ahead of you which is why you may be dropping below the average time. What I can say is pre-production is the longest wait. Once you're into building they get it all done it 2-3 days normally.

I know this but as there current dispatch time average time is AVERAGE is 9.55 days surely this should reflect on my waiting time. And as I did my homework and read the reviews before ordering and people usually receive their laptop in 14 days. I am going to be over 14 days on Monday and still in pre-production and I have not received any explanation as to what the delays are you can understand how I am starting to question why mine is taking so long. I just hope that when I finally do receive it that it is to my satisfaction ie perfect no defects whatsoever or it will be getting sent straight back and all of this will be going into my review.

Umm if it's your 9th working day today it will only be your 10th working day on Monday? Remember PCS work to WORKING days (Mon-Fri) like most companies.

I am not being ratty I am just stating facts and questioning there customer service which I am entitled to do. You are the one jumping on your high horse and defending them I am well aware of the t and c's and am prepared to wait 30 days I am just stating that I am not impressed so far as to the information I have received as to why it is taking so long and am being kept in the dark which I don't think is very good customer service and am starting to worry a bit to the legitimacy of the company after reading a few other negative reviews ie one where a customer recieved a screen that was defective. Got a replacement and the hard drive wasn't screwed in properly and he had ordered artic cooling mx4 compound and after inspection found out there was none. I just hope that when I finally recieve my laptop that it is in perfect working order.

Yes I know it's the 9th working day but the averages tell me that mine is taking exceptionally long and I have not been given an explanation.

No one likes a pre production party pooper - you have hijacked this thread for a rant Jedi. Everybody has felt like you do waiting for their expensive piece of kit to arrive...

I apologise for defending the company that built me a brilliant machine with no problems at all and provided me with an excellent service.

If you'd been reading my comments before you'd ordered your laptop you'd have felt encouraged that there are people saying that they do provide a good service and you'd trust them when placing your order. Now what you're probably doing is discouraging potential customers as you are making out you've had the worst service in the world just because you're having to wait a little longer than what the average charts state (which you have to remember the average charts will account for both standard and fast tracked orders which could explain why the average is currently so low if they are having a lot of fast tracked orders against standard orders). I guarantee your laptop will enter building on Monday, you'll have it by the end of the week and you'll be singing PCS's praises. They're not going to start building a new machine on a Friday afternoon are they.

Also, please do check that you're actually on your 9th working day rather than just your 9th day since order otherwise this whole discussion has been completely and utterly stupid.

I am not stating that I have had the worse service in the world I am simply stating that I am unimpressed with the amount of information I have recieved so far as to why my order is taking so long. If when I recieve my laptop it is up to my satisfaction I will give a glowing review only indicating that it may take longer than expected to recieve your laptop and that you won't be kept informed every step of the way. I don't mean to discourage any potential customers but isn't it better that they are aware that the waiting times can be longer than average and that you won't be informed as to why so that they can make up there own mind before ordering and know what to expect.

Btw it is the 9 working day in pre production and almost 2 weeks since ordering. I wish you could guarantee that it will be in production on Monday, and why not start building a new machine on Friday afternoon I guarantee you that if I had all the parts in front of me now I would have the machine built software installed and be testing by the end of the afternoon.

Everyone is informed of this before you order. It's written in big letters before you press the order button. Plus what do you expect, your machine to have it's own twitter feed? "@bobthebuilder looked at me today while I sat on my shelf, I got my hopes up but today wasn't the day, suspecting it could be another 3 working days. #PCSarerubbish"

Basically Rakk is going to close this thread any second as it has been hijacked and you are just having a bit of a rant. You complain that you haven't been kept informed yet there's no reason for you to be. You haven't been waiting an abnormal time, it's just taking slightly longer to enter building than normal. Are you really expecting them to send you a message every day to give you an update? They probably haven't even looked at your order yet because they've been busy yet you're assuming something is out of stock which is why it's being held up and that they're hiding vital information from you. They're probably just backlogged and it'll be built in no time and then you'll wonder why you whined so much.
