Final Spec - any improvements?

Think this spec provides high performance...for CAD/Sketch-up/Photoshop/bit of gaming

Is the motherboard sufficient or should I upgrade it?

is this case ok - will it provide enough cooling?

With solid state drives, I imagine 1st will have OS and Programs, 2nd drive project files, is that a reasonable way of doing it for performance,

You could probably drop to the non-k version of the 4970. Are you sure you need the overclock? however the 4970k does have the higher base clock speed. Up to you.
The case isn't designed for such a high end system and you could do with one with better cooling, especially if you are overclocking - Anything that says Extreme Gaming should be fine.
The motherboard is more than enough for your needs.
1st SSD:OS, Programs and data files for projects. 2nd SSD: Output for projects
Get liquid cooling if you are overclocking, it will extend the life of the CPU.

The way SSD's work isn't like HDD's. They don't care if they're running the OS and opening Photoshop at the same time. The can drag data from anywhere on the disk at the same speed. You may see a minute improvement on write speeds, but generally it would be impossible to tell.

From a pure performance stand point a single 500GB drive would be faster because it has more chips to read/write at once. meaning more 'lanes' it can use at the same time. So it would be fractionally cheaper to do it that way and minimally better in terms of performance. However I don't think their is much in it at all.

I probably don't need to OC right now...

I've read mixed reports about liquid cooling i.e more hassle/maintenance/still need fans anyway?

That sounds intersting...never worked with a raid before...how would I set that up and would it back up automatically?

Raid 0 splits the data between the 2 drives so you have double the chance of a failure, if one drive fails you loose everything.

SSD's are so quick you don't really need raid.
