First attempt (novice), for Photo editing AND Home Studio

Hi everyone

So, I'm trying to build a PC capable of being able to run Adobe Lightroom nice and quickly for semi-pro photo editing, and also be able to handle my home recording studio. I would only ever lay down one part at a time but I will need to be able to run multiple plug-ins etc. within a pretty dense mix (32 to 64 tracks)

I'm trying to keep the base cost below £1,000. I also need to be able to add a separate PCI based soundcard separately...

I'm also a bit of a novice with this kind of thing. I've done some reading through this forum, but I'd really appreciate any insight/input from you kind people!

Thanks!

Rich

It would be worth upgrading to the Nvidia GTS450, you could lower the current cost by taking the normal i5-2500, 1333mhz RAM (you don't need the K version or higher speed RAM for stock clock speeds) and a Caviar Green drive.

The specification is nearly there. If you follow Phoenix's suggestions in regards to CPU, RAM, GPU then you'll be sorted.
