First Gaming PC For A Youngster

You guys were very helpful putting together my £2000 gaming PC last year, I recommended you to a friend who is looking to buy a gaming PC for her son, lower mid-range this time with a budget of £800-£1000. No special requirements, doesn't need extra storage space or a blu-ray or anything, he's wanting to play games like GTA V, ARK: Survival Evolved and Valorant, for reference. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I don't think a £1000 gaming PC is worth it just now. There would be too many sacrifices for me to recommend it. I can try to put something together that will do the job but it's not something I would recommend due to the corners needing cut. I guess the monitor is outwith the budget? Do you know the model information?

Would a console offer those games? They tend to be far better value right now and you can get the best for half that budget, allowing for 4K gaming etc.

Above is around where I would land also. The only real savings that could be made would be on the GPU front, but there aren't any good options. The 6600 is a really good value card for price to performance, to save would need to opt for the 1660..... which although fine for 1080p.... it's an older card now.

I've just asked and luckily yes, they already have a monitor, an "Acer model no. ed270r". The lad is definitely after a PC so he can play modded games and use Steam etc. and the mother would also like to occasionally use it for work, so a console is out on that front.
