Hey guys and girls looking to get my other half her first PC.

  1. we are looking at ideally a AMD setup.
  2. For mainly Gaming and Streaming
  3. Currently have a 144hz 1ms Monitor ready for hers
  4. budget between 1.2/1.5k
  5. Needs to be upgradable
i Know she ideally likes things to be colourful so RGB is a must nothing overkill though.
If anyone can give me some suggestions on a good build for this that would be great.

I'm currently running Ryzen 7 3800x /8GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2070 SUPER/16GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3200MHz/ASUS® TUF X570-PLUS GAMING on my own pc.

Hi there,
Got a few questions for you.
1. (and please don't misconstrue this as being harsh) Can you hold off on buying the PC? Obviously if it's a birthday present, anniversary, had a big fight and want to get them something to make up for it type of deal I can understand you wanting to get it sooner rather than later. Unfortunately with the component shortage worldwide compounded with many factories lowering production over the recent Chinese New Year period PC parts are at an all time high. If you can afford to hold off for a few months you will be able to get more bang for your buck and we can make your budget go a little further. I put together a rough equivalent of the build you're currently running and it has come to over £1500.
2. What resolution is your monitor? For 1080p the 3060 should do the job, for 1440p we're looking at another £130 or so for the 3060ti.

Awesome, it's a 1080p monitor, so the build above with the 3060 will be a good fit.
Budget allowing, I would personally recommend taking the build above upgrading the CPU to the 5800x. I appreciate it does take you over budget but spending that extra £90 today is better spending £300 a few years down the line. Upgradeability is good, but if you need to upgrade a component other than the GPU within the first 3 years of its lifespan, I would definitely recommend paying a little extra upfront because it will save you a big chunk of change in the long run.

Thankyou for getting back so quickly.

she wants to get into gaming and streaming as i stream alot xD.
she would be on 1080p to start with but was just getting an idea of how far 1500 at max would get her for a setup, wont be buying for maybe another couple months down the line anyways.

Understood, thank you for clarifying.
The build above is what I would recommend for £1500 at the moment. In a couple of months the stock situation should be better and £1500 should get you a bit further.
In a couple of months or so, a few days before you're ready to hit order, I would recommend resurrecting this thread and we'll see what you can get from your budget then! :D

Hopefully by then component supply will have improved and prices come down so you'll get more bang for your buck, resurrect this thread when you are ready to order something so we can spec accordingly

Pre built PCs usually have some compromises. Given the increase in budget, I have tweaked the original build from @MrWilson changing the CPU to the 5809x, upgrading the cooling to suit (best available for the case selected) and given you better storage. Unfortunately, prices have actually gone up even further in the last few months and the original build would cost 19% more than it did in March.

Thanks for comming back so quickly.

For some reason the case I selected didn't come up she would want the -

PCS SPECTRUM RGB MID TOWER CASE (WHITE)

(Not sure If the case makes any difference)
(Unless you guys state it a bad option)

Only thing I'm abit unsure on is the 3060 is there anyway of putting a 3070 as think that's the lowest I'd want her to have so it keeps her going for a while until having to upgrade.

Thanks for your help

Only things I've changed

Memory to Rgb version
Case to white and pink (unless bad option)

Could this be done for under 2k?

The case isn’t great. While it does come with 4 fans included the airflow isn’t great and with a very hot CPU like the 5800x you do need a case with decent airflow.
RGB RAM is a higher profile so depending on the case it might not be able to fit alongside the AIO. The Coolermaster TD500 is a good option here, as it can fit the slightly larger H115i Capellix as well as RGB RAM, and is £1 cheaper than the 220t case.
The 3070 is wasted at 1080p gaming. The 3060 will last you for a few years and is £250 cheaper, so it keeps you in your £2k budget. The GPU is the fastest evolving technology in any PC build, and it is inevitable that it will need replacing within the lifetime of a well made build.

Great thankyou last question

Does anyone know a roughly estimated time of waiting for a build seeing as I know there's a waiting time for the new 30 series cards ?
