First time desktop build

New member
Looking to invest in my first desktop build, currently a very happy customer with a four year old pcspecialist laptop, but definetely need an upgrade.
Build is primarily for gaming, the likes of Star Citizen, MMORPGs and some fun filled sims; whilst also some light-ish Lightroom photography modifications. Haven't got a screen yet but either looking 4k or 2560 x 1440.

Three drives are for a dedicated OS, gaming, and then document filings.

Any advice would be grand as this is a first timer for this sort of thing... thanks

Either the Fractal Torrent + AK620 or the 5000X + H150i will be completely fine for the 7800X3D.

The Strix is cheaper and all you need (the Tuf is only a tiny bit cheaper again, so the Strix makes sense). The Asus 7900XTX costs £50ish more than the non-Asus one; it probably makes no difference to performance; it may be a little quieter and better built, though I'd not consider it a big deal.

The only change I personally would definitely make to Scott's build is to go for one 4TB SSD as the secondary, rather than the two 2TB ones. I'd go for the Corsair MP600 drive myself. You could argue for the better brand (Solidigm) or the lower price, the convenience and theoretically better endurance of the bigger drive (the Corsair); personally I'd come down on the side of the latter, but it probably makes little difference either way.
