Hi,
I am building a desktop for the first time, I'll be using it for 3D CAD modelling which is why I need the 16GB RAM, It'll also be used for hardcore gaming for things like BF4 and crysis. But yeah, have a look let me know what you think.

COOLERMASTER SILENCIO 550 QUIET MID TOWER CASE
Intel® Core™i5 Quad Core Processor i5-4670K (3.4GHz) 6MB Cache
ASUS® MAXIMUS VI HERO: PCI-e 3.0, SATA 3.0, USB3.0
16GB KINGSTON HYPERX BEAST DUAL-DDR3 2400MHz X.M.P (2 x 8GB KIT)
2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650 - DVI, mHDMI, VGA - 3D Vision Ready
CORSAIR 350W VS SERIES™ VS-350 POWER SUPPLY
CoolerMaster Seidon 120M High Performance CPU Cooler
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
WIRELESS 802.11N 300Mbps PCI-E CARD
2 PORT USB 3.0 INTERNAL PCI-E CARD + STANDARD USB PORTS

1st Hard Disk 120GB KINGSTON V300 SSD, SATA 6 Gb (450MB/R, 450MB/W)
2nd Hard Disk 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 32MB CACHE
Extra Case Fans NONE

I'll be running 2 IIYAMA E2282HS (LINK!) at full 1080p with a corsair k90 vengence keyboard and a razer naga 2012.

What do you think?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,
I am afraid the spec you posted is nowhere near suitable for hardcore gaming. You need a much better gpu like the gtx 780. Are you over clocking the CPU?

Graphics cards

I'm building a new PC and putting a gtx 750 ti in,
are the cards used by PC specialist the reference cards because I'm looking at getting the asus version

thanks, Tom

Yeah, the Nvidia cards are usually the 'Vanilla' Palit cards, its possible to spec your rig and send PCS your own graphics card to install or you could install it yourself when you receive your rig.

Well if you're ordering from PCS, if you spec a machine with the graphics card you want to put in, they'll give you a warning if your PSU is not up to the job. I'd recommend specking your machine with the graphics card, to ensure the PSU is good, then order the same machine without the graphics card (so you can install your own later).

How difficult would it be to put in my own graphics card?

Or you could send the gpu to PCS to install it for you. It would be less hassle to order one from PCS, I don't think there would be a noticeable difference in performance between the Asus or plait gpu

If I can fit a Graphics Card anyone can, what you need to ensure if you are fitting the card yourself is to make sure you here a click when you insert the card into the PCI slot, the PCI slot has a little clip at the end and if this is not down then the card is not fitted properly and will not work this caught me out twice. Try to fit the card to the nearest PCI slot the CPU if you can its a X16 PCI slot so will give you the best performance. You will probably find that PC Specialist may tuck the cables to make it look tidy from the PSU away so have a look for them mine I found when I removed the back side case as opposed to the front where the Motherboard etc is visible. Finally if you want to be safe purchase a cheap anti-static wrist guard too, as better to be safe.

I think i could do with one too :)

We will need to know what your going to be using it for? Gaming any editing etc? Also what your budget incase we can improve on it.

Also make sure you have Silver warranty at least, just incase, its an extra £5 but gives you a years return and collect.

EDIT: OH sorry didn't realize it had got that far already

Sorry Rakk,

Budget is around £950 because im getting the graphics card separately, 2 screens and a new KB.

Im going to be using it for web design, 3D cad modeling and gaming, things like bf4 and crysis 3

You should try and go for the 1TB Caviar Black Hard Drive it isen't much more and is a faster and more suitable card for gaming, 650 Watt PSU would be better,if you do decide to get a more powerful graphics card. I think you may struggle trying to play Crysis 3 in 1080 with the 750 Ti ideally a GTX770 or 780 would give you a better gaming experience, even if it means purchasing the Graphics card later as I know this may exceed your budget. I have a similar spec to you but have a GTX780 I have Metro 3 another intensive game and that can drop to 40 frames a second on occasions, although other games such as BF4 and AC Blackflag can run in excess of 60fps as long as you have AA set at FX AA
