think u might struggle to max out with an i5, I still done run fuly maxed out on my system in sig tbh. The main problem is when you have tr4affic on 100% for boats, cars, airport and aircraft

id probably recommend either an i7 or a 6 core AMD (probably overclocked either way)

i wouldnt bother with that board, its a pretty old chipset and you are better off getting some sort of Z68 board

the 2133MHz is definitely not worth the price, just get 8GB of 1600MHz RAM, although I'm not sure if you need more than that to max out FSX

From what ive read, its pretty much impossible to max out FSX so a 580 will do you good, but cant guarentee it maxing out

might wanna consider a 60GB SSD for your OS and FSX, it will read data much quicker

Probably best to get a 750W PSU just to last longer, or maybe even an 850w

Dont bother with a sound card unless you get something decent such as a titanium

Make sure to get silver warranty for a fiver

Thanks guys.

Frenchy; I'm not fussed about boats/cars etc, I'm more interested in the scenery add-ons such as the Horizon VFR stuff.

Wozza; I'll change the RAm & motherboard, thanks for the tip. Will change to i7 too. As for the SSD, do you mean as the primary drive or the cache option? I suspect my FSX installation will exceed 60 gb with the OS on the same drive. Would it be OK to have a small SSD for windows then FSX on a caviar black as a 2nd drive?

I'll ditch sound card & upgrade PSU.

Cheers

do you know how big it is? windows is about 20gb then allow 10gb for other programs and then add on FSX, see what you get, then buy one a bit bigger than that

With the Horizon UK scenery with other stuff I think it easily creeps up towards 30 or 40 gig. Just thinking ahead with adding extra bits on. Might get a slightly bigger SSD with a 1 gig caviar black; gives me the option to move FSX to that if it gets too big!

Slight hitch is my PC is at home which is overseas, so I can't check how much room my current FSX installation takes up! Going to buy this PC & take it back with me.

Does this look a little better? Thanks again for advice so far. :)

you dont need the 6gb/s SSD if you dont want it, get the 750GB Caviar Black, for the double the cache and it literally costs nothing

also get the silver warranty

Thanks; I'll decide between SSD or Caviar Black over the next few days. I won't be using silver warranty as I'll be taking it home with me to Qatar so it won't be any use. Thanks again for advice! :)
