Budget £2000-3000. With monitor. Main use gaming (mostly indie with little AA games) and some music streaming. 4k or HD gaming.

Main games: Ff7 remake, Atomic heart, last of part 1, God of war and lots of indie games, with a possibility of VR. Looking to rent one to see if it works for me.

Mid factor case or smaller, tight space. About 1tb SSD.

Also to emulate psx to ps3.

Eyeing 4070 ti card.

Thank you!

Hiya

What monitor are you pairing it with, what make or model?

HD isn't really a thing anymore on pc, except for extreme budget or competitive screens, it's very outdated and we generally try to avoid it wherever possible, especially at this kind of budget, you'd be looking at Ultrawide, Superwide or 4k, not really even 1440p.

I have no screen im eyeing yet, will stick with 4k. I have no idea what the difference is between ultrawide vs superwide.
What's your budget for the monitor as at this level you're looking from about £600 entry level up skywards to multiple thousands.

Superwide is 3440 X 1440, it like 1.5x 1440p across the horizontal. Leads to much better immersion in gaming and shows you more of the picture so you see enemies coming into frame earlier.

Superwide is 5120 X 1440 so it's 2x 1440 horizontally. Even more immersion still.

The best monitors available are ultrawides and the resolution would be more suited to a 4070ti. For 4k or superwide you really need a 4080.

Just some examples of peoples experience of Ultrawides and Superwides

I can't see me spending much more the then £600. I seen ultrawide go for £2000 and that's way over budget. So pass on a Ultrawide.

Say £2000-2600 desktop and £600-700 for screen.

Is this a realistic budget?

Can’t help with the monitor as I went OLED, and they’re all £1000+.
Yeah I'm a bit lost at the screen. Thank you so much mind. I hope SpyderTracks can up with something.

Ok I could do out with the 5.1 sound card? Is it ok to use my Edifer E235 2.1 or should I upgrade that?

the Board can do 2.1 very happily, sound card won't improve it.

If you want a proper sound interface, consider an audio interface, will be far superior to any PC soundcard such as these

For a screen, @Martinr36 Gigabyte M34WQ is decent at around £500

Or the Dell S3422DWG is good value at £460

Should I keep my speakers or sell them and get new ones? If so what would you recommend? I would rather keep them for now but if need to be I replace them. If that makes sense.

No need to change them if you don't want to, there's nothing wrong with them. The point is that a gaming soundcard is no better than an on board soundcard these days, the only time they're beneficial really is for a 7.1 surround system.

Would this do: https://www.andertons.co.uk/recording/audio-interfaces/focusrite-scarlett-2i2-3rd-generation

I just checked my speakers and there's no optical out put just a small headphone jack.
You would use the 6.35mm line outputs for the speakers, or you could use the 6.35mm headphone jack, you'd obviously need adapters.

The Focusrite are very budget but very well regarded for their quality.

The optical is a digital output for DVD players or PC outputs or something like that.

I'll just recommend this one also, I have the older model and it's absolutely superb for the money:

Is this easy to setup? I have setup a hi fi before mind, just not a pro.
