Gaming laptop advice

Hi everybody.

I want a gaming laptop and have been looking for a month or so. I'll be wanting to play the latest games on the highest settings possible. I think I've narrowed it down to the following two specs.

But the question is which is better. Is the omega2 better because it uses a desktop processor. Is it worth the price difference. Portability doesn't matter to me as when it's being used it'll be on a table but I do want to move it from time to time hence the laptop.

Also which will be better for upgrading in the future?

If your going for the SLI model i would be selecting the new ATI R9 M290X Myself, takes your budget upto £1,992 though.

Saddly there is no reulsults on http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-770M.88995.0.html but it is higher up the list.

Also i would get silver warantee as a minimum, it covers you for a years collect and return just in case.

What games are you playing?

Whats you budget?

And is it gaming only? No editing and photo/video rendering etc?

Thanks for your reply. I do like the look of that build but don't know about the step down with the processor. Also I've not really looked at the AMD cards but they seem like they'll get the job done. If I did get that build would the gpu's be upgradeable in the future?

I will be using the machine to do some home video editing and photo editing so it's not just for gaming. However I do want to be able to play games like Titanfall, battlefield 4 and elder scrolls online.

You can upgrade the GPUs but it depends on Clevo releasing a bios update for your chassis to take newer GPUs

Agh i see, yeah you would want to get a better CPU than that then, but there are higher options than the one i suggested in that spec. I'm not great with the CPU requirements of Photo and Video edditing so i couldn't confidently comment on that.

I love the AMD cards myself i have a two year old HD6990m which was Mobile Flagship at the time i i can still run things like Battlefield 4 on Medium to high. Obviously Mobile card have some limitations over their Desktop counterparts. Only trouble i find with tem is that the drivers dont seem to be as polished as nvidia when it comes to Beta's etc but its never stopped me playing.

In regards to upgrades although these machines have upgradable GPU it also has a lot to do with the manufactures BIOS and their support. For example i cannot upgrade past the HD7970m as the BIOS firmware may not available to allow me to upgrade saddly.
