Gaming Laptop Help!

Hi all!

I'm looking to buy a new gaming laptop over the next couple of weeks & wanted some help with what i should buy! It doesn't need to be hugely high spec - i only want to run the new Football Manager 2023 (Specs below) & will also use it for work. I'd like to get a fairly decent one in case i decide to play other games as well, although don't want anything too expensive.

Really would appreciate any suggestions as frankly, i really have no idea what to be looking for!

Cheers!

Hi
Quick questions

What's your budget ?
Will you use it plugged all the time or you'll need a good battery ?
will you use an external screen or you need a good integrated screen ?
Do you prefere a 15" or a 17" integrated screen ?
Finally, what's your budget ?

Thanks for your reply.

Budget is around £1200.00 - maybe slightly more or less.

I'd need a decent battery as likely that it's not going to be plugged in for the most part.

I'd more than likely be using the laptop screen for the majority of the time & would ideally like the 17" screen although not adverse to the 15".

Cheers!

Huuuuuum,
I'll check the price later, but i think your budget is too small to be a good one in pcs, that do tailor-made laptop
I'll give you my conclusion later, but for a 17"laptop, i think it will be hard to fit a laptop in your budget.

But, i think you'll have to pump your budget a little to have something that will be nice on the long term
Or buy a prebuild laptop ^^"

Sorry to give you this answer ^^"

Pre build laptop isn't a problem. I just have no idea what I'd need etc so looking for any pointers really!

Hellow, sorry for the delay.

So, the only laptop from PCS you could buy is this one :

It will be a little over your budget, and I'm not fully statisfied with the ssd and you should take at least the silver warranty and the dead pixel guarantee, but it may please you ^^
(the battery won't long last thought ^^")

If this laptop not please you, as this forum belong to PCS, i cannot advice you about "prebuild" laptop from other brand ^^"
I'm really sorry ^^"
But if i'm not wrong, the moderators here suggest to ask on the tom's hardware forum ^^"

Thanks - i'm happy to buy from PC Specialist so i can spread the payment over a year. If i upped the budget to 1500-1600 - is there anything more suitable? I don't know what SSD means or what factors this may have in the future?

Sorry, i really don't know much at all about laptops but want to get a good one that will last!

Laptops are far more expensive than desktops for less power.

£1600 will get you something very basic, you'd need a far higher budget for something worthwhile.

Understood! I'm not looking to play high end games in reality. But Id like something half decent but I really have no idea what'd offer me the best value for money?

You need to work out what it's going to be used for, and then you need to work out your maximum budget.

We can only advise on pcspecialist laptops which are custom made to order.

We can't advise on off the shelf systems from elsewhere

Understood. Problem i have, is that i don't really have any idea when it comes to computers & what's good & what's not good!

Happy to buy from PC Specialist on the basis that i can pay it off with credit. Main game i'm likely to play is Football Manager 23 which is not really very demanding (as below) but at the same time, i'd like to play it with fairly decent settings etc.

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.
  • OS: Windows 7.
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 or AMD Athlon 64 X2.
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM.
  • Graphics: Intel GMA X4500, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650.
  • DirectX: Version 11.
  • Storage: 7 GB available space
There are pre built systems on PC Specialist which i'd be happy to buy, but i don't know what i should be looking for?

All we need then is your max budget?

That has no relation to the components or any level of equipment, it's purely the maximum that you're willing to spend?
