Gaming Laptop

Hello All

I always ask on these forums before buying a new machine, but this is the first time I'm looking for a gaming laptop so I really don't have a clue--I've been focused on desktops for years.

I'm looking for a 17" screen laptop that will run any current game well. I'm in the first stages of looking at options here so any advice would be appreciated, but I'm aiming to spend £1500 max and I have no idea how realistic that is. I could stretch to more if necessary, but 1500is the ideal budget.

All responses appreciated!

Currently, there is a very limited choice when it comes to 17" screens...for your budget, the Defiance is the only one (there are others but the configurations with good GPUs are out of stock currently) really, at present....no clue when more stock of other configurations etc will come in. I will say, I have no idea if the Defiance is any good or not though:

Thanks for the reply Just!
It's a starting point. I've always bought my machines here for years, but in this case, after your comments I might start looking at other brand options. Omen seems good.

Much appreciated!

A couple of things that am wondering:

- I take it there is a specific reason for getting a laptop rather than a desktop this time?

- I assume you won't be hooking your laptop up to an external screen to play games? If you were, then you could potentially go for a smaller screen which would open options up.

As to HP etc, we can't give any advice on them unfortunately.
I can.... HP are bloody awful!!

Ive had HP laptops and desktops in the past, and I can happily say with 100% confidence i will NEVER buy another HP product ever again.

Yes, I do need a laptop as opposed to a desktop due to working away from home and I'd like the option of gaming when not working. To be honest, I'm looking at a machine that will run anything well, but that's just in case a high spec game appears that I like. Mostly I play less demanding games such as the new Baldur's gate or single player fps games for example. Whether the defaince screen is amazing isn't really an issue as long as it isn't a bad screen if you see what I mean.

Will do! There were issues with my original email address which meant it was impossible for me to reset my password for some reason.

@SpyderTracks Would the Defiance be the better option between the 2 specs above? Just thinking in terms of battery life when not gaming as the rest of the specs are the same in terms of changeable bits
Well it's a they're both clevos which I would say are a far more reliable investment than a tong fang.

But I don't know enough about them to make a judgement call I'm afraid.

But there's something about the elimina that really appeals to me.
