Gaming Machine £1350

Hi Guys,

As the title says I'm looking at getting a new gaming machine, don't really want to spend more than £1350. So far I've come up with the following but I'm wondering if I should swap the SSD out and replace the HD6970 with a GTX580 (as my current machine is running a HD5850) and maybe get the i7-2600 too.

Or maybe get the smaller 60gb SSD and i7-2600? But not sure how useful such a small drive would be. Also, what's the general concensus on monitors, is it worth spending the extra £50 on the iiyama 24" or just stick with the bog standard 24" monitor.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

- stick with the i5 cpu.

- if your happy with decent speeds from the caviar black then go ahead with it. but if you want lightning fast loads and such then stay with it as the the 6970 gpu is a real good graphics card and you cant go wrong with it since it packs plenty of power for gaming.

in my view the specs looks spot on.

as for the monitor, i think its worth the extra 50 since the iiyama monitor is nice quality. your choice though :)

You certainly want an Iiyama as getting a HD monitor will get the most from your graphics card and its just a lot better quality overall. The HD on board audio is pretty good so I dont think its really worth getting a £20 sound card, unless you are willing to invest £100-£150+ in one.

Awesome thanks guys, think I'll stick with the i5, the SSD, ditch the sound card and also go for the iiyama. Probably should have said that the budget is £1350 including a monitor so the GTX580 is a little out of budget. Also might switch to a different case!

i've re-adjusted your spec then which includes the monitor, case is your choice however as the inwin is a head start on where to look at for your specs :) Stick with the amd 6970 though as you have quite a strict budget after all and the 6970 isnt a no brainer graphics card so you're in good hands with it.

^^ most benchmarks show the 570 as more powerful and its the same price, which is why id say get a 570
