What's your budget? And has he specifically said he wants to overclock as well as game??

This little lot is costing £1200

He doesn't have any intention to overclock yet, but maybe in the future, who knows!!

For that budget you should be aiming for a much better GPU like the 780.

Ok thanks SlimCini, thats a good build, however I was under the impression that the Haswell processor ran hot, which is why I threw in the H80 cooler, also having seen an article of the Haswell and ram on AnandTech, it concluded that ram clocking in at 1600 or lower should be avoided. Have you read differently?

I will take this build and try and talk him out of the case, keyboard and mouse he wanted in favour of the ones you have suggested and see about improving the graphics card.

Also I was under the impression that anything above the 760 was for multi monitor setups, would be really interested to know if I am wrong as upgrading the graphics card would then become a must

At stock clock speed no need for a corsair hydro cooler. The gtx 780 is a great card for single or higher resolution monitor. It depends on the fps you expect and the games you play.

Thanks for the info, I am trying to talk him into the changes, will at least upgrade the graphics card, and depending on what changes he agrees to will be either the 770 or 780

Would you recommend downsizing the cooler to the H60 or would you go completely air cooled with the triple copper
