Hi all, I'm an avid gamer and still running the GTX 1070 with an i7. Whilst it does the job I'm really feeling the effects of having an outdated PC due to FPS drops in newer games so looking to upgrade. My current system lasted me a solid 5.5 years so I think it's time. Ideally want this machine to last me another 5 years. Please can you have a look and let me know if the GPU & CPU options are solid and also if the cooling options I've picked are good choices. Monitors I have at the moment are Optix MAG241C Full HD 23.6" Curved LED Gaming Monitor (144hz)

I don't really have a budget but obv don't want to go OTT. I also do not care about how the case looks as it goes under my desk to never be seen again xD I also struggled to find a cheap case to house extra case fans so I removed them, is this an issue?

I picked 8GB RAM cause I already have loads I can just put in myself that I bought fairly recently I have 32GB RAM DDR4 Kingston so that's why its so low on the spec below.

There's more to a case than looks mate, having good airflow to keep temps down to dampening to keep volume low, etc

But anyways this is more geared to a 1440p build so you would need to upgrade your monitors to get the most out of it but it's a much more balanced build and would easily last 7+ years with proper maintenance, care and upgrades

Sorry I mistyped I already have an i7 in my current spec and I wouldn't be looking at changing monitors for a while as I only got these recently, is it still worth doing it?

Also forgot to mention I picked 8GB RAM cause I already have shit tons I can just put in myself that I bought fairly recently lol I have 32GB RAM DDR4 Kingston so that's why its so low on the spec

interesting you chose the 3060TI tbh I was looking at this one previously

If you sticking to 1080p mate get a 3060, no need for a 3060Ti which is aimed 1440p 144Hz or the 3070 which is aimed at 1440p ultrawide or entry in to 4K

1080p is ancient these days so you really don't need a powerful GPU to get there

Noted, if you're staying at 1080p this would be overkill, I wouldn't recommend staying at 1080p though 1440p is such a massive improvement it's almost twice as many pixels

interesting, what monitor is good for 1440p? i had a quick look online and they're all £500+ and I need two so that's just too much for me right now but that's good to know.... might be worth waiting for the monitor upgrade as well in that case...

It's hardly worse mate, an older i7 is much much less powerful than the new i7 or even the new i5 it depends entirely on which actual model you have? If you've paired it with a 1070 5 years ago it's like a 6770K which is really old and nowhere near current levels of performance

The i7 12700K that's just released by Intel is probably the best price/performance gaming CPU on the market right now

what option did you go through on website to get these cause only one I can find only offers 32GB RAM which is bumping price up a bit

There's no way you could use that case, the build would just burst into a ball of flames. Case is paramount to cooling in the build, you can't just have anything, it has to match the components.

It would also be pertinent to have a higher PSU, 1000W would cover you for future upgrades.

The rest looks good though.
