I am getting my son a laptop for his birthday. I have ordered what I consider is decent but would like some help if there is something I should change. The main purpose is for this to be for work and multimedia (youtube etc.) Is there anything I should consider to upgrade that will improve performance well? He will play the odd game on it and if there is something major I should consider then please inform me.

It looks alright. But that CPU is in desperate need of upgrading! If I were you, I'd drop the graphcis card and get an i5 CPU. It'll b much more beneficial.

I have changed the cpu to a I7 quad core processor. Would you be able to recommend anything else that should be changed?

Well, I am willing to spend up to about £1000 on the computer. The current price is £651

Might be worth looking at the 17.3" Optimus IV if he wants watch movies on it and the graphics card will run most games as well as upgrading the thermal paste to increase the laptops life. There's lots of reviews of it to read everyone seems very happy with it

That's frustrating, is the optimus 15.6 cheaper/more than the 17.3 or are they the same?

The 15.6 is £575 and the 17.3 is £600 not much in it really
