Glossy vs Matte?

don't know much about the differences to be honest, except Matte is better in light area/outdoors? and glossy has more vibrant colours?

I know my work laptop has a matte screen and it does my head in. work in Marketing and constantly looking at artwork/mock-ups of products and the colours never resemble their real life appearance, never mind the fact the screen constantly looks dull.

however this might be the laptop, it is after all the most non powerful and backdated piece of rubbish ever known to man.

whereas my personal laptop has a glossy one, and the colours look great-ish and vibrant. - although on a sunny day in the conservatory I cant see jack on it.

Yeah my mate has a high end laptop with a matte display he paid an extra £90 for, but tbh i see little point, he doesnt go in the sun with his laptop at all and putting my current laptop next to it, which is a cheapy £400 Acer my screen looks better and its gloss, mine isnt even that bad indoors with the light on anyway.

Personally i think its a bit of a gimmick, like the 3D on my TV i dont use.
