Apparently microsoft are going to make it possible to uninstall edge and other bloatware

Microsoft will let users uninstall Edge, Bing, and disable ads on Windows 11 as it complies with the Digital Markets Act

I don't mind Edge at all...but am getting more and more annoyed with all the little 'additions' they push with each release that are enabled by default with no clear way to turn them off...or deliberately obfuscated methods of doing so.

So turns out this is due to another EU directive, and it’s not just limited to edge, it’s any app like cortana.

I can remember people clamouring for this back in the windows 95 days, and they’ve never stopped asking for it.

Yeah didn't they have to do something similar with internet explorer in the end

With IE they bundled it free with windows, but made users think it was their only option so effectively people from using 3rd party browsers which had a major antitrust lawsuit against them that they lost.

Netscape was the leading browser at the time, and so much better, but it was a tiny company and a paid product and they just couldn’t compete
