Hi all,

Quick question. Anyone know which manufacturer PC Specialist use for their GTX range? Got my heart set on the 770 but after reading reviews, some companies have them slightly overclocked. Does it depend what they have in stock or is it standard Nvidia hardware they sell?

Thanks

Generally PCS use Palit for their NVidia cards, its not guaranteed, but it is normally Palit.

A lot of manufacturers will add their own cooling systems to cards to overclock them, PCS don't supply these type of cards, they fit reference cards. These come at stock clock speeds with standard cooling systems installed, and as Rakk said they are usually Palit.

Thanks guys.

However, I checked up some reviews and one that cropped up was the Palit GTX 770 Jetstream. This was overclocked to be roughly 10% faster than the reference card. So, I take it Palit not only makes their own version but also supplies the standard base clocked card too, that being the one that PCS uses?

Correct. For what it's worth I have a reference Palit 780 in my rig and it's bloody awesome. The extra 10% just isn't worth the extra cash.

Are you sure you are not looking at the Palit Super Jetstream? I believe that has a good overclock on it.

If I had the cash just sitting there wanting to be spent, I'd would probably go for a factory overclocked card. Lol, I have a factory oc'd evga 680, and its great! quite a bit faster than standard 680's and runs cool to.

Thanks Boozad, your rig spec looks pretty awesome so it's good to know the GPU will be quick.

Hi Tom. Yeah, was the Jetstream one I found. I'm just getting into PC gaming so it's been a bit of a learning curve with regards to what's current just now. The GPU thing (same card, different manufacturer) had me stumped for a while which gave me the question of which one PCS supplied. I suppose it would be good if they could specify that when choosing your spec, but as the link moosEH posted above shows, it's not always possible. Once I finally go for it (holding off until GDC to see if Valve announce their Steambox - I know, I know, they won't, they'll just release an update of TF2 Harry Potter hats or some ****), I'll make sure to ask which GPU will be installed.
