GPU Question
I purchased the above PC a few weeks ago and I'm in the queue. There's no GPU in it because it seems daft to buy one now with the NVIDIA 3000 series GPUs just round the corner. In the mean time, I'm going to put my 4 year old MSI 980ti in it. I want to use this build for high intensity VR gaming with the Valve Index as well as 1440p pancake gaming at 144hz. How significant will the bottleneck caused by the 980ti be?

SSD Question
I currently have a 1tb Intel M.2 SSD. Is it worth upgrading to the Samsung drive (+£76) / Firecuda (+£111)? I want to get the best performance possible, so wouldn't mind spending the extra money, as long as the performance boost is worth the money. That's why I opted for RGB products because I understand RGB increases performance by at least 20%.

Thank you for your help! This is the unique URL but I've made so many amendments it's basically a different build:

There will be an obvious bottle neck but I don't know much about that so I'm not going to comment on how strong it will be, but as long as you're 100% certain you're getting the 3000 series you'll be fine with it :)

There isn't a noticeable difference in terms of speed here, so I would personally go for the Samsung drive. Even from Intel to Samsung, it's a good difference in speed but between Samsung and Firecuda the difference wouldn't be noticeable so it's better to save that extra bit.

Might be other pros and cons which others can chip into this with, but that's my take on this

You should be able to manage 60fps on 1440p, but it won't manage VR very well at all.

That's not a serious statement is it?

Thanks for the advice, I'll look at getting the Samsung one.

My current 980ti/i7-4790k can handle a few VR titles like Alyx and Beatsaber, and pretty much any Oculus exclusive. I was hoping the massive CPU improvement would help improve performance a bit but I guess VR still heavily relies on the GPU.

Red for increased performance and blue to bring the temperatures down. Rainbow is good for a generalised performance boost but may also be the PC's way of expressing itself.
