Hi!

I bought the below spec in 2020 and I'm interested in upgrading the GPU. I use the machine primarily for Blender which I know to be GPU hungry.

I'm interested to know if a GPU upgrade is the best way forward, and if so, what should I buy? PCS upgrade section has options up to 4090 but I worry that space is an issue.

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers!

It will depend on the specific model of GPU to some extent too...as an FE model 4090 is shorter (at about 304mm) than most AIB models (e.g. 355mm for the retail Zotac 4090; 329mm for the retail Palit 4090; 358mm for the Asus 4090)...and that case claims 300mm is the max GPU length that will fit.

The other watch-out for something like a 4080/4090 is your PSU...as they can both produce transient power spikes of double their claimed power usage, which can trigger a PSU's protection circuit. The experts on here have been suggesting a 1000w minimum and 1200w 'safe' level for a few months.

I just managed to fit a RTX4090FE into my iCUE 220T case, but I only have 5-10mm clearance from the front fans...and the thickness of the card means there's not much space between it and the PCIe add-in card I have my extra m.2s in.
