GPUs that PCS uses

Hello all.

I have a Desktop on order from PC Specialist.

I was wondering if they have a preferred manufacturer of GPU or if its a case of they just buy in whatever is the best deal at the time they order stock in.

I suspect the latter, but thought I'd ask just in case - it would be nice to be able to check reviews whilst waiting for my PC to progress from pre-production :)

Many thanks.

For NVidia it tends to be Palit or Zotac, but its not guaranteed, as they may find a great deal from another brand, but its mostly Palit or Zotac, can't remember for AMD cards I'm afraid.

If you're that bothered, buy a system without a GPU and get your own GPU instead.

Also you won't find reviews for them all as while PCS can sometimes use Zotac Amp!s, Palit duals, Palit Jetstreams, they also use OEM ones that there are no reviews for.

Any GTX 1080 is still a GTX 1080. The price premium for the Rog Strix GPUs PCS do is insane and I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole.

Seriously, if it's an issue then buy your own. Though do note that PCS's GPU prices seem to have been shielded somewhat versus the prices for consumers. A GTX 1060 3gb was about £180-200 from PCS when I last looked a few days ago, versuis about £280 on a lot of retailers. ~£180 used to be the normal price before the mining craze and other things.

That's fair enough :) I'm all for people getting and fitting their own GPUs, especially if it's either that or buying a Strix(!) btw, that wasn't a criticism. What system are you waiting on?

No worries.

I cant link it as Ive changed the spec 7 or 8 times since I ordered it 8 working days ago :) and the link only shows the original build.
Basically its based around an 8600k and Gtx1080.

I thought about the ultima but thats out of my bugdet (which Ive already exceeded by £300)

Im guessing my spec changes could be contributing to my waiting times, but Im ok with that as I have another computer to use whilst I wait :)
