Graphics Card Question

After building a PC with the help of the people on this forum I am looking over the pieces and this came to mind.

At the moment I have a 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 680, but for about £40 more I could get the 4GB version.

How much of a difference in gaming performance would this give, because to me its twice as much so in theory it should be better. Is this true, and is it worth spending £40 for a big difference.

Gaming in 1 screen no difference. When I did some research I found that the palit jetsream 4gb GTX 680 (I think PCS uses that one) offers slightly less fps than the 2gb version when gaming in 1 screen. If you are planning to run 3 screen I'd suggest the 4gb version.
